Odell Jeter

21p1.preview-3Odell Jeter, 68, of 513 Hetty Hill St., entered eternal rest on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Brookview Healthcare Center.

Husband of Etta Pearson Jeter, he was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Willie Mae Gregory Jeter and the late Glasgow Falls. Odell was a 1966 graduate of Granard High School. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a former trustee and member of the Gospel Chorus. He was owner of Odell Jeter’s Tile and Cement Company.

Odell was preceded in death by a son, Derrick Dawkins, and a brother, Luther Jeter.

Surviving are his wife, Etta Jeter of the home; seven daughters, Juanita Davis (Jerome) of Gaffney, Chanel Jeter-Norman (Clarence) of Inman, Nicole Twitty (Arnie) of Polk County, N.C., Shawn Robbs of Boiling Springs, S.C., Tonya Robbs, Makayla Sharee Craig (Charles), all of Gaffney, Shanaka Jeter-Green, of Spartanburg; one brother, Joe Stevenson (Pondrienna) of Gaffney; four sisters, Sarah Frances “Pat” Tate, Corles Jeter-Smith, Gerald Jeter-Sims and Anna Watkins, all of Gaffney; 13 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews, including Bishop Lance Jeter of Florence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. James Sanders Jr., Bishop Lance Jeter, Bishop Alfred Williams and Bishop Marvin McMillan. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 7-8 p.m. at The Gilmore Mortuary. He will be in state in the church Thursday at 1 p.m.
