Jerry Lee Maybin

Jerry Lee Maybin, 53, of 106 Etna Court, Inman, passed away on March 19 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Ft. Myers, Fla. and was a son of Ruthie Thompson Maybin of Ft. Myers and the late Dennis Maybin.

He was a member of Holiness Temple Pentecostal Church in Landrum. Jerry was an employee of BMW and an avid Clemson fan.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by: sons, Jaylon, Jaysan, and Jaydan Maybin, of Gastonia, N.C., Leonard Maybin and LeAnder Maybin of Brighton, PA, Jerry Maybin of Inman; daughter, Ashley Maybin of Ft. Myers; a sister, Janice Maybin-Glenn of Inman; brothers, Bernard, Dale, and Sam Maybin, of Ft. Myers.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 25th at 2:00pm in New Pilgrim Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mae Hester Houey

Mae Hester Houey, 79, of 240 Holmes Rd., passed away March 17th , in Spartanburg. She was the widow of James Howard Houey and daughter of the late John Freeman McGill and Jessie Luvenia Wood McGill.

She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and Senior Choir.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eddie; a brother, Homer; and a grandchild, Tyran.

Surviving: sons, Howard Evans (Debra) Houey and Thomas Eric (Denise) Houey of Gaffney, Douglas Eugene Houey of Spartanburg; daughters, Mary Jane Houey and Amanda Houey Guerrero of Gaffney; brothers, Charles (Mary) McGill, Frank McGill, James (Nita) McGill, Bobby McGill, William (Louise) McGill, and Billy Wayne McGill, all of Gaffney; sisters, Ruth Horton (Sam) of Lexington, N.C., Betty Houey and Dorothy Boyd of Gaffney, Carolyn (Earl) Posey of Spartanburg; 13 grandchildren, including Ronté, Cherelle, and Brandon Houey and Lakesha Clyburn raised in the home; 23 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, 3 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She will be in state in the church Thursday at 2 p.m.

The family is at the home of her daughter Amanda Guerrero, 513 Stone Crest Lane.

Charles Rubeno Petty

Charles Rubeno Petty, 59, of 409 Browning Road, entered into eternity on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in New Jersey.

Husband of Jeanette Pearson Petty, he was born in Shelby, N.C. and was a son of Lester Petty, Sr. of the home and the late Troy Viola Littlejohn Petty.

He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, a retired Patients Advocate of Greystone State Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey, and past president of C.W.A. Local Union 1040.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a sister, Shirley Petty Roberson of Gaffney; 3 brothers, Larry Littlejohn (Chloette), Roy Petty (Patricia), and Elliott Petty (Deon), other relatives and friends.

Services will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12 noon, in Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He will be in state in the church Saturday at 11 a.m.
