Jessie Jeffries

Jessie2aJessie Jeffries, 74, of Cowpens, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Widower of Rosa Lee Burris Jeffries, he was born in Cherokee County and was the son of the late Everlena Jeffries and Robert Johnson. He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church and a retired construction worker.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister, Elvira Hunter.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: a brother-in-law, Deacon Columbus Hunter; two nephews, Rev. Bishop Jimmy Hunter and Rev. Timothy L. Hunter; great-nieces, Jahné Parham (Chris), and Chisa Putman (Byron); great-nephews, Jonathan Hunter (Erica), and Jordan Hunter; cousins, Mrs. Elvena Hollis, Miss Sarah Hollis, Miss Angela Hollis, Mrs. Stella Palmer, James Wilson, George Oliver, Calvin Linder, Johnny Hogue (Cordelia), Dr. A.L. Brackett, A.H. Brackett, Winfort Brackett (Vera), Douglas Brackett (Maxine), and Ruby Hayes; 3 step-sons, Rev. Ralph Burris, Rev. Monroe Burris and Rev. Freddie Burris; 4 step-daughters, Rev. Floree Copeland, Misses Shirley Burris, Doris Burris and Teresa Burris; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. at Island Creek Baptist Church with Dr. A.L. Brackett officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He will lie in state in the church Thursday from noon until the hour of the services.

The family is receiving friends at 210 Smith Road, Cowpens.

Johnny Littlejohn

19p1.mediumJohnny Matthew Littlejohn, 69, formerly of Gaffney, entered eternal rest on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at Pruitt Hospice Home in Ridgeway.

Born in Gaffney, he was a son of the late Nesbitt and Georgia Allen Littlejohn. He was a Baptist and a retired cook.

Johnny was preceded in death by three siblings, Paul Vernon Littlejohn, Versie Lee Littlejohn and Darlene Smith.

Surviving are a son, Tony Martin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Wilbert Littlejohn (Janie), and a sister, Sugarmine Sarratt, all of Gaffney.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Mills McHam, the Rev. James Patton Jr. and Minister Juanita Dewberry. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of Wilbert and Janie Littlejohn, 503 Sixth St.

Phyllis Evon Mack

websitethumbnailMrs. Phyllis Evon Thompson Mack was born in Gaffney, South Carolina on November 12, 1953. She was a daughter of the late Jessie Patterson Davidson and the late Roy Thompson, and widow of Ophanel Mack, Jr.

She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 13th, in Novant Medical Center, Gaffney, SC.

Phyllis received her formal education in the public schools of Cherokee County. She was a retired employee of the Peachtree Centre.

Phyllis was a Baptist by faith and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was retired from the Peachtree Centre.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Elnora Thompson. Surviving are: 3 sons, Ron Mack of Mauldin, Sheldon Mack of Blacksburg, and Justin Mack of the home; a brother, Samuel Davidson (Diane) of Gaffney; 3 sisters, Patricia Hamilton of Asheville, Wanda Hush (Odus) and Cheryl Davidson, both of Gaffney; grandson, Sheldon Mack, Jr. of Gaffney; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.
