James C. Goodwin, Jr.

James Cornelius Goodwin, Jr., 70, of 121 Carver Street, passed away Saturday, July 27th, in Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late James C. Goodwin, Sr. and Johnsie Harris Goodwin.

James was preceded in death by a son, Oscar. He was a graduate of Granard High School, Class of 1967. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, a former employee of Duke Power Company, and a former member of the National Guard.

Surviving are: a sister, Vivian Woodruff (Frank), of Gaffney; niece, Johnsie Woodruff of Cheverly, MD; nephew, Primes Woodruff, of Boiling Springs, SC.; several cousins.

The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m., in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Rev. C.A. Wallace officiating.  Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery.  He will be in state in the church Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

The family is at the home of Evelyn Huskey, 1362 Leadmine Road.

Annie L. Sutson Burris

Mrs. Annie Laura Sutson Burris, 70, of 219 Martin Hill Road, Blacksburg, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 in her home.

Widow of Deacon Ralph Burris, she was born in Cherokee County, SC on November 23, 1948, and was a daughter of the late Laura Sutson Gaston and Henry J. Galmer.

She was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, member of the Culinary Committee, Missionaries, and Pastor’s Aide.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Anthony Burris, Jr.; two sisters, Reverlee King, Betty Morgan, Catherine E. Galmer, and Barbara Ann Galmer; and brothers, Henry Galmer and Evon Galmer.

Surviving are: two daughters, Lynette Parker (Derwin) of Blacksburg. and Angela Marie Allen (O’Neal) of Gaffney; four sons, Christopher Burris (Sheryl), Darrell Burris (Beth), Scott Burris (Rhonda), and Travis Burris (Jessica), all of Blacksburg; sisters, Ophelia Praziel of Blacksburg, Gracie Diane Mayberry and Martha Jean Houey of Gaffney, and Margaret Thompson of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Charles Crate of Gaffney; aunts, Elizabeth Parker of New Jersey and Louise Lockhart (Mitchell) of Blacksburg; brothers-in-law, Bob King of Blacksburg and Ernest Caldwell of Middletown, CT; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be Friday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m., in Youngs Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Brooks officiating. Interment will be the church cemetery. She will be in state in the church Friday at 1 p.m.

Donnie M. Littlejohn

Donnie M. Littlejohn, 56, of 108 Hoover Drive, Lexington, N.C., passed away Wednesday, July 24th, in his home.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Rochelle and Minnie Watkins Littlejohn.

He was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church and Victor Lodge #141.

Surviving are: his wife, Thomasine Littlejohn, of Gaffney; daughters, Brandi Jackson (Cedric), of Spartanburg, Chere Sullivan of Gaffney, and Kara Goode (Gowan), of Charlotte, N.C.; sons, Jarrett Sullivan and Jordan, Sullivan; step-son, Jarvis Shippy; brother, Willie Littlejohn, all of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Shirley Pough, Brenda Duncan, Dicy Crosby, and Maggie Studyvance.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Suck Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Macomson officiating.

The family is at the home of Willie Littlejohn, 238 N. Green River Road.
