Latasha Marie Jackson

Latasha Marie Jackson, 35, of 303 Fowler Rd., passed away Sunday morning in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Shelby, NC and was a daughter of Mrs. Sarah Johnson Jackson and the late James Jackson.

She was a member of Gowdeysville Baptist Church.

Surviving are: her mother, Sarah Jackson of the home; a brother, James Terrill Jackson (Dana) of Gaffney; a sister, Lydia Mitchell (Brandon) of Shelby, NC.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Minister Verlinda Mintz and Rev. Timothy L. Hunter. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

The family is at the home of Lydia Mitchell, 6026 Emerald Lane, Shelby.

Fleming J. Means, Jr.

Fleming J. Means, Jr., passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

He was born in Gaffney, South Carolina on September 28, 1953 to Rev. Fleming Means, Sr. and Mrs. Queen Camp Means.

Fleming was a member and deacon of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 1971 graduate of Gaffney High School. While at Gaffney High, he was a bus driver and member of the football team. He was a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC where he was an honor student and a member of the Alpha Phi Omega-Service Organization.

He was a former employee of Cherokee County School District, Piedmont Community Actions, and Nestle. Fleming was very active with the Boy Scouts.

Surviving are: step-siblings, Ricky Fernanders (Barbara), Annie L. Fernanders, and Diane Brannon (Willie)); all of Gaffney; several cousins, including Freda Miller, his caregiver; special friends, Bobby and Betty Fernanders, caregivers; god-brothers, Roger Patterson (Jewette) of Gaffney and H. Singleton Gilmore of Greer, SC.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Limestone Missionary Baptist Church of Gaffney, SC with Rev. Michael L. Golden officiating. Interment will follow in the Gaffney Memorial Park. He will be in state in the church Saturday at 3:00pm.

Leon Bernard Duncan

Leon Bernard Duncan was born in Union County, South Carolina on June 30, 1941 to Lawrence Cleveland Duncan and Sallie Ree Smith Duncan.

He passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 in his home, 401 Glen Cove Drive, Chesterfield, MO.

He was a graduate of Sims High School, a Baptist, and a retired Master Chef.

Surviving are: a son, Leon Duncan, Jr. (Carrie); two daughters, Shaynene Wise and Cassandra Duncan Quash (Jay); three brothers, Curtis D. Duncan (Doris), Michael A. Duncan (Gloria), and Rev. William L.C. Duncan; two sisters, Linda Ziegler (Ronald) and Audrey Love (Castelle); 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 12 Noon in Woodson Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Malachi Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He will be in state in the church Friday at 11:00 am.
