Ivy Denise Morris

Ivy Denise Morris, age 50, of 531 Pleasant School Road, Gaffney, passed away Saturday, February 25th, in her home.

She was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a daughter of Geraldine Camp Morris and the late Roscoe Morris, Sr.

Ivy was a 1990 graduate of Gaffney High School.  She was a member of Greater Bible Way Tabernacle Miracle Temple in Inman, SC.  Ivy was employed at Freightliner in Gaffney.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Morris.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: two daughters, Britny Logan, of Rock Hill, SC and Latifah Sims, of Gaffney; brothers, Roscoe Leon Morris, Jr., Shelton Morris (Patrice), of Boiling Springs, SC, Dewayne Morris, Terry and Jerry Morris all of Gaffney, and; sisters, Romaine Oates (Sherwood), of Shelby, NC; Sandra Camp, Elizabeth Logan, of Chester, SC, Gwendolyn Milton, of Gaffney, Sherrill Adams, of Greer, SC,  Jacquine Terry (Michael), of Duncan, SC, of Gaffney; two grandchildren; Faith Brooklyn and Hope Breelyn Wray, both of Gaffney; best friend, Debra Moore, of Spartanburg, SC; a special friend of the family, John Cody, of Spartanburg; other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, 3:00 p.m. in Greater Bible Way Tabernacle Miracle Temple with Apostle Willie Rookard and Pastor Charles Brandon. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. 

The family is at the home of her mother, 107 Westland Drive, Gaffney.

Spencer Leach

Spencer Bronwell Leach, age 68, of 126 Rev. Booker T Sears St., Apt- A, Spartanburg, SC, passed away Thursday, February, 23rd, in Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.

Husband of Andrea Sarratt Leach, he was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late John and Shirley Leach Mickles and the late James and Hester Houey.

Spencer was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mickles, Mr. and Mrs. Houey; grandparents, Deacon and Mrs. Leach, Shadrach and Gertrude Houey; and a brother, Eddie Houey, (Alberta). He was of the Baptist Faith.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Andrea; three sons, Spencer Leach, Antwan Sarratt (Shareika), Sherman Sarratt,; two daughters, Emaya Leach and Tamica Sarratt; brothers, John Mickles, Jr. (Ruby), Jerry Mickles, Sr.. (Dagmar), Jeremy Peeler, Howard Houey (Debra), Douglas Houey, and Thomas Houey (Carol); three sisters, Mary Houey, Amanda Guerrero, and Debra Jefferies (Bobby); four grandchildren, Sha’Meria Adams, Janae and Skyla

Sarratt, and Jordan Johnson; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law, Joe Sarratt and Willie Dean Sarratt; sisters-in-law, Erma Jean Sarratt, Sandra Waddell (Napoleon), Rosalind Camp (Avery), and Carolyn Byars; a host of other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 3:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Michael A. Bridges and The Rev. John Daniel Jefferies. The family is at the home of Debra and Robert Jefferies, 113 Wilkinsville Highway.

Mrs. Gloria Gaston Tate

Gloria Gaston Tate, 88, of 105 Ashley Street, Gaffney, SC, passed away Thursday, February 23rd, in her home.

Wife of Jay Walter Tate, she was born in Cherokee County, SC to James Campfield Gaston and Annie Mae Spears Gaston.

She was a member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church.  She was a 1951 graduate of Granard High School and a retiree of the Cherokee County School System.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Tate, and a grandchild, Miranda Latoya Tate.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Jay Walter Tate, of the home; two sons, Harold Tate, of Gaffney, SC and Jay Walter Tate, Jr., of Simpsonville, SC; a brother, James “June” Campfield Gaston, Jr., of Gaffney, SC; six grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 1st, 2:00 p.m., in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with The Rev. Darrell Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
