Wandra Jean McCluney

Wandra J. McCluney, 63, of 125 Creekview Lane, Gaffney, passed away Friday, July 3rd, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Cherokee County on Feburary 17, 1958 to Claude McCluney, Sr. and Myrtle Phillips McCluney.

Wandra was a retired custodian for Cherokee Medical Center. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Kendrick Lashun McCluney, of Spartanburg; a daughter, Charity McCluney, of Gaffney; two sisters, Kathy Camp and Janet McCluney, both of Gaffney, SC.; three nieces raised in the home, Thaylia “Niecy” Phillips, and Bunny Phillips, both of Gaffney, SC, and Angela Miller (Walter), of Chesnee, SC.; 4 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Thursday from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 9, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Overseer Kenneth Dawkins, Jr. officiating and Rev. C. A. Wallace, eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She will be in state in the church Friday at 2:00 p.m.

David Lee Roberts

David Lee Roberts, 54, formerly of 514 Kelly Street, Gaffney, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, in Willow Ridge Nursing Home, Rutherfordton, NC.

Son of the late Gladys Roberts Bonner, he was born in Cherokee County, SC on January 13, 1967.  

He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, a graduate of Gaffney High School, a former employee of Stouffers and Cone Mills.

In addition to his mother, David was predeceased by his step-father, Cothrell Bonner, Sr., and a sister, Gloria Jean Roberts.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a sister, Brenda Phillips (Dwayne) of Ellenboro, NC; a brother, Cothrell Bonner, Jr., of Gaffney; 4 nephews; 2 great-nephews; 2 great nieces; an aunt, Opia Tate, of Gaffney; other relatives and friends.  

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 2nd, 12:00 noon, in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of his sister, Brenda, in Ellenboro, NC.

Sugarmine “Coot” Sarratt

Mrs. Sugarmine “Coot” Littlejohn Sarratt, 75, of Gaffney, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, Union, S.C.

She was born in Union, SC and was a daughter of the late Nesbitt and Georgia Mae Allen Littlejohn.

Sugarmine was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Limestone Mills, Jet Cleaners, Broad River Truck Stop and Home Health Care.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Willie Sarratt; a daughter, Renita (Peaches) Littlejohn; a granddaughter, Mykiriyah Sarratt; her siblings, Darlene Smith, Versie Lee Littlejohn, Wilbert Littlejohn, Matthew Littlejohn, and Paul Littlejohn

She leaves to cherish loving memories: two daughters, Leslie T. Littlejohn and Michelle Sarratt, both of Gaffney; a son, Michael Sarratt, of Gaffney; eight grandchildren, Georgiana Littlejohn, Latarsha Littlejohn, Leslie M. Littlejohn, Larry Austin, Jr., T’ Keyah Sarratt, Michael Sarratt, Jr., Jerome Ross, and Jordan Sarratt, all of Gaffney; a niece reared in the home, Minister Juanita Dewberry (Minister Chris), nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Wednesday from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 17th, 3:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Juanita Giles officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.
