Howard Wilson

Howard was born in Gaffney, SC on June 4, 1941 to Kelly and Genevieve Hopper Wilson.

He was educated in the public schools of Cherokee County, SC. For many years, Howard was employed as a custodian at Walmart in Gaffney.  He loved his job, his co-workers, and his customers, especially the children.  He delighted in giving candy to the children who came in the store. Since his death, Walmart has honored Howard by continuing to give Tootsie Rolls to each child who came in the store. 

Howard answered the Master’s call on Thursday, February 1, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Russell Wilson, Kelly Wilson, and Hilda Degree; and brothers-in-law, Billy Degree and Larry Logan.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Brenda Camp Wilson; a son, Howard Wilson, Jr.  (Lilliana); a daughter, Lisa Linder (Roy); grandchildren, Shawndra Yount and Tatiana Wilson; sisters, Gladys Wilson, Mary Logan, and Diane Williams; sisters-in-law, Janie Wilson and Lillian Wilson; other relatives and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 1:00 p.m.., in the Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating.

Corine Posey

Corine O. Posey, age 95, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Thursday, February 1st, in Spartanburg.  Widow of Swan Odell Posey, she was born in Anderson, SC and was a daughter of the late Trossie and Addie Tucker Hunter.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, 1:00 p.m., in Island Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating.  Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Debra Ann Surratt McEntire, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, in Forest City Hospice of Carolina Foothills.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 12:00 noon with a 30 min visitation prior to service in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Suck Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
