Thomas Bryant Phillips

Thomas Bryant Phillips, 79, of 827 Concord Road, passed Friday, July 1st, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

 Husband of Mary H. Phillips, he was born in Cherokee County on October 2, 1942 to Thomas and Maggie Huskey Phillips.

Thomas was a retired Brick Mason. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon, served as former Chairman and Assistant Chairman on the Deacon Board, Grave Committee member, and Former Sunday School Teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, J.C. Phillips and Bessie Phillips.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Mary Phillips, of the Home; two sons, The Reverend Antony Marcus Phillips (Tonya), of Ridgeland, MS, and Stephen B. Phillips (Rosalind), of Gaffney, SC; a daughter, Fonda Chandler (Henry), of Gaffney, SC; a brother, John Edwin Phillips (Janie), of Columbia, SC; a sister-in-law, Mary Phillips, of Gaffney, SC; eight grandchildren, Brent Byars, TeRico, Roshad, Antony, Zakia, Eboni, and Aysha Phillips, Maddison Chandler; 7 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends

Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C.A. Wallace officiating and The Reverend Antony Marcus Phillips delivering the eulogy.  Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. He will be in the church at 12:00 noon.

Public Viewing will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at: From 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Jannie Smith Littejohn

Jannie Mae Smith Littlejohn was born November 1, 1959 in Lincolnton, NC.

Jannie was a woman of God.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. She loved spending time with her family.  She was nick named Granny at a young age and later became a proud Granny to her grandsons.

She was a retired Home Healthcare Nurse and proud owner of L&J Tax Services.  She graduated from Spartanburg Technical College.

She peacefully transitioned on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at 4:03pm at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Jannie was preceded in death by her father William Smith and mother Bessie Mae McKissick Smith; her sisters; Elnora, Sara, Arneatha, Dorothy, Frances, and Diane; her brothers, Lamar, Willie Lee, and Thomas.

Jannie was married to Larry Thomas Littlejohn, Sr and the proud mother of Larry Thomas Littlejohn, Jr., of Piedmont and Felisha Candis Synclaire Littlejohn, of the home; second mom and Guardian, Jameria Byers; grandsons, Xavier and Zy’Marion Littlejohn; two granddogs Missy and Roscoe; her sisters, Norine Withers (Bob), of Charlotte, NC and Linda Smith Avery, of Kings Mountain, NC; her brothers, James Smith, of Gastonia, NC and Donald Smith (Susan), of Wilson, NC; her aunt, Alma Brown, of Cherryville, NC; and close niece Pastor Susan Huskey, of Gastonia, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-daughters, sons, brothers and sister-in-laws, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 9th, at 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Reverend Lizzie Bridges officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

Shaundra Evette Lindsay Bridges

Shaundra Evette Lindsay Bridges, 38, of 524 W. Rutledge Ave., Gaffney, SC, passed away Tuesday, June 14th, in Gaffney, SC.  She was the wife of Alex Bridges, III.

She was born in Cherokee County on September 26, 1983 to Sherry Lindsay.

Evette, as she was affectionately called, was a sweet soul who loved and would help anyone if she could. She was quick with a comeback, and had the best sense of humor. She valued family over everything. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her children and grandchildren dearly. Evette was well loved by her family and friends, and she will truly be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by: her grandmothers, Betty Jean Lindsay and Ruth Lee Mayberry; grandfather, Nathan Mayberry; grandfather-in-law, Alex Bridges Jr.; great- grandparents, Benjamin & Maggie Thompson; two uncles, Roger Lindsay & Terry Lee Jamison, Jr.; and her cousin who was like a brother, Richard “Man” Lindsay.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Concord Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Michael Bridges officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
