Edward “Slim” Littlejohn

Edward “Slim” Littlejohn, 87, of 510 Thompson St., passed away Thursday, October 26, in Mary Black Hospital, Spartanburg.

Widower of Maggie Whittenburg Littlejohn, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Dever and Rehobirth Faucett Littlejohn Holmes.

He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Edward was preceded in death by siblings, Dever Jr., Albert, Johnnie Joe Epps, and Lula Cannon.

Surviving are: a son, Edward Charles Littlejohn of Gaffney; two daughters, Ethel Sue Boyd (James) of Greenville and Tracie Littlejohn (Chris) of Gaffney; brothers, Billy Littlejohn (Annie) and A.W. Littlejohn (Wyonna), of Gaffney; sisters, Gerutha Sarratt and Louise Simons, both of Gaffney; sisters-in-law, Essie Littlejohn of Washington, D.C., and Billie Sue Shippy McFadden of Gaffney; 15 grandchildren, including Harriet Holmes, reared in the home as a daughter; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, at 2 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. C.A. Wallace officiating. Larry Sarratt will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Tracie Littlejohn, 608 Marion Avenue.

Jerold Randoll Taylor, Jr.

Jerold Randoll Taylor, Jr., 48, of 131 Bambi Trail, Cowpens, passed away on Tuesday, October 10th, in Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC.

Husband of Joann Colley Taylor and son of Jerold and Evelyn Dewberry Taylor, he was born in Spartanburg County, SC on December 9, 1968.

Jerold was a graduate of Broome High School, a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired employee of Supply One in Spartanburg.

He was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church where he served as an usher, trustee, Sunday School and Bible Study Member.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Vance Taylor.

Surviving are: his wife, Joann Colley of the home; 2 daughters, Evelyn Nichole Taylor of the home and Jessica Pruitt of Cowpens; a son, Joshua Pruitt (Kelsea) of Cowpens; father, Jerold Taylor, Sr. of Cowpens; a brother, Mark Anthony Taylor of Cowpens; 3 sisters, Monic Taylor, Terrica Taylor, and Tishia Taylor, all of Cowpens; grandchild, Greycen Taylor of Cowpens.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m., in Island Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating. Military honors and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Taylor will be in state in Island Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Mary Elizabeth Watkins

Mary Elizabeth Watkins, 91, of 503 Kendrick Street, passed away on Sunday in Magnolia Manor of Inman. She was the daughter of the late Gainesville and Beatrice Jordan Watkins.

She was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church, a graduate of Granard High School and Grady School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA, where she received a degree as a Registered Nurse.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Watkins Heywood, Gwendolyn Watkins Thompson, and Gloria Watkins.

Surviving are nieces, Hildred Freeman of Inman and Elizabeth Jamasina Thompson, of Philadelphia, PA; and a nephew, Michael Watkins Thompson of Gaffney.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 1:00 pm., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.
