Boyd Lee Smith Jr.

Boyd-SmithBoyd Lee Smith, Jr., 60, of 425 E. Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane, entered eternal rest on Friday, October 9th, in Mary Black Gaffney Medical Center.

He was born in Gaffney and was a son of Hazel Pearson Smith and the late Boyd Smith, Sr.

He was a former brick mason with Cherokee Masonry and Barton Construction Company.

Boyd was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Smith, and a brother, Charles Henry Smith.

Surviving are: his mother, Hazel Smith; his companion, Yvonne Rankin Foster; a son, Josh Rankin; daughter, Tizley Rankin; 4 brothers, Joe, David, Jackie, and Timothy Smith (Kisha); 3 sisters, Marsha Rainey, Hazel Smith, and Pheobe Smith; all of Gaffney; one aunt, Julie Burgess of Campobello, SC; 4 grandchildren including Kiera Rankin, raised in the home; 1 great-grandchild.

Services will be Monday, 2:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Darrell Smith officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Yvonne Rankin, 425 E. Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane and at the home of his mother, Mrs. Hazel Smith, 407 Barclay Ave.

Earnest Hall Baker

earnest-bakerEarnest Hall Baker, 86, of 53 Wabash Drive, Ellenwood, Georgia, entered eternal rest on Wednesday in Piedmont Henry Hospital, Stockbridge, GA.

Widower of Earnestine Linder Baker, he was born in Sparta, GA and was a son of the late Jessie and Lula Wilson Baker.

He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Georgia and a former member and trustee of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gaffney. He was a retired employee of the former Draper Corp.

Surviving are: one son, Johnny Littlejohn (Rosheeda A) of Gaffney; five daughters, Dorothy Hull (Danny) of Gaffney, Aretha Frierson (Charles) of Roebuck, Renee Newson (Darryl) of Jonesboro, GA, Sharon Baker Seldon and Ardenea Byars (Roberick) of Ellenwood, GA; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; 4 great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m., in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C.A. Wallace officiating and Rev. Phillip Buckson delivering the eulogy. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Danny and Dorothy Hull, 114 Michigan Avenue, Gaffney.

Wilbert Littlejohn

wilbert-littlejohnWilbert Littlejohn, 74, of 503 6th St., entered eternal rest on Friday, Sept. 25, in Mary Black Health System Hospital in Gaffney.

Husband of Janie Dukes Littlejohn, he was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Nesbitt and Georgia Allen Littlejohn.

He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church, a carpenter and roofer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Wilbert Littlejohn (Hope) of Atlanta, Ga., and Wesley Dukes of the home; four daughters, Margaret Coleman (Michael) and Lula Littlejohn of Gaffney, Twiggy Baker (Clifford) of Spartanburg and Raquel Littlejohn of the home; a sister, Sugarmine Sarratt of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Kerwin Wray, Rev. James Patton, Jr., Rev. Mills McHam, Minister Juanita Dewberry and Minister Charles Shippy.

Interment will follow in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
