Pollie Lockhart Weathers

PollieWeathersPollie Lockhart Weathers, 73, of 210 Weathers St., Blacksburg, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C.

Wife of Roy Weathers Sr., she was born in Cleveland County, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Fred Davis and Daisy Mae Lockhart. She was a 1958 graduate of Granard High School and a member of the Divine True Holiness Church of God. As a member, she served in several capacities, which included psalmist, missionary and minister. She worked and retired at both Grover Industries and TNS Mills.

Mrs. Weathers was a former board member of Cherokee County Disabilities and Special Needs.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, Gertrude Kilgore, Frank Lockhart, Mattie Joelee Lockhart, Nellie Proctor and Douglas Davis.

Surviving are her husband, Roy Weathers Sr. of the home; two sons, Roy E Weathers Jr. (Rebecca) of Hoboken, N.J., and Timothy N. Weathers (Juanita) of Richmond, Va.; two daughters, Dr. Lelia M Weathers of Atlanta, Ga., and Dr. Monica D. Weathers of Charlotte; five grandchildren; Savannah, Nolan, Micah, Saniyah and Leah; a brother, Nathaniel Davis of Atlanta; two sisters, Vordia Dawkins of Blacksburg and Peggy Davis (Johnny) of Vanceboro, N.C.

Funeral services will be today, April 18, at 2 p.m. at Divine True Holiness Church of God with the pastor, Bishop Eddie Lockhart, officiating and Overseer Theodore Lockhart, eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. She will lay in state in the church Friday from 1-2 p.m.

Leroy W. Littlejohn

Leroy LIttlejohnChief Petty Officer (US Navy Ret.) Leroy Warren Littlejohn, 88, of 1731 Burnt Gin Road, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Novant Health Gaffney Medical Center.

Husband of Toledo Knuckles Littlejohn, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Carl and Phines Talley Littlejohn. He was a graduate of Granard High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Dunton United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men, the choir, and Administrative Council. He was a member of Mountain View Masonic Lodge 301, Royal Arch Chapter 46, and Cherokee Consistory 267.

Leroy was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Elford Littlejohn, and a sister, Barbara Brunson.

Also surviving are a daughter, Joanita Littlejohn of Douglasville, Ga.; five brothers, Allen Littlejohn, Hillard Littlejohn, Walter Littlejohn (Leota), all of Gaffney, Wilbur Littlejohn of Charlotte and Wayne Littlejohn (Lydia) of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Dorothy Alford of Charlotte and Carolyn Jones of Florence; and a brother-in-law, James Brunson of Florence.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m. at Dunton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lillie Davis officiating. Military rites and entombment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Natasha Nicole Sorrells

Natasha SorrellsNatasha Nicole Sorrells, 33, of 6120 Stibor St., Las Vegas, Nev., entered eternal rest in Las Vegas.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a daughter of Harold Sorrells of New Jersey and the late Janice Burden.

In addition to her father, she is survived by three brothers, Daniel Sorrells and Darius Sorrells of Las Vegas, David Sorrells of St. Mary’s, Ga.; and grandmother, Catherine Jones of Blacksburg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Grover, N.C., with the Rev. William Thompson officiating and the Rev. Lewis Duckett Jr. delivering the eulogies. Interment will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens, Blacksburg.

The family is at the home of her grandmother, Catherine Jones, 103 N. Chester St., Blacksburg.
