Lucille Hush Crosby

Lucille-CrosbyMrs. Lucille Hush Crosby, 91, of 511 Littlejohn Street, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 4, in Mary Black Hospital, Gaffney.

Widow of Moses David Crosby, she was born in Georgia and was a daughter of the late Eli Magdalene Hush.

She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a retired employee of Cherokee County School District.

Surviving are: her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Linzsey Smith of the home; 2 sisters, Florine Hopper and Janie Famble, both of Lawndale, NC; 3 sisters-in-law, Nancy Adams and Minnie Hush of Gaffney, Louetta Crosby of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 2 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. She will be in state in the church Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The family is at the home on Littlejohn St. and at the home of William Ellis, 118 Monroe Road.

Daisy Helen Smith

Daisy-SmithDaisy Helen Smith, 70, of 511 Littlejohn Street, entered eternal rest Saturday, February 27th, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Spartanburg.

Wife of Linzsey Lee Smith, she was born in Cleveland County, NC and was the daughter of Lucille Hush Crosby and the late Moses David Crosby.

She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a retired employee of Carolina Cotton, Inc.

Surviving are: her husband, Linzsey Smith and mother, Lucille Crosby, both of the home; one son, Norman Crosby of Gaffney; one daughter, Marvette Ellis of the home; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
She will be in state in the church Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The family is at the home on Littlejohn Street and at the home of William Ellis, 118 Monroe Road, Gaffney.

Dorothy Smith Oglesby

OglesbyDorothy Smith Oglesby, 82, of 132 Water Mill Rd., Cowpens, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 29th, in her home.

Widow of Wyatt Oglesby, Jr., she was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of the late Landrum and Flossie Morgan Smith.

She was a 1950 graduate of Granard High School where she was a member of the Basketball Team and the school’s May Queen in 1950.

Mrs. Oglesby was a member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a former member of the Gospel Choir.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wyatt Oglesby, III and siblings, Richard, Landrum Jr., Alvin, Billy, and Elizabeth.

Surviving are: three daughters, Vanessa Weeks and Wanda Taylor of the home, Wendy McShaw (Floyd) of Cowpens; one brother, Eugene Smith (Marilyn) of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Crystal Weeks and Timothy Oglesby (Casey); two great-grandchildren, Taylor Fowlks and Jordan Oglesby.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., in Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cowpens with Rev. Arthur J. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park. She will be in state in the church Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
