Olin David Hamilton

21p1.previewOlin David Hamilton, 76, of 1434 N. Limestone St. (The Peachtree Centre), died Friday, April 1, in Mary Black Hospital, Gaffney.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Nancy Hamilton.

Olin was a skilled butcher and a talented musician.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hamilton, and two sisters, Margaret Tate and Pauline Jefferies.

Surviving are: three sisters, Betty Wilkins of Denver, CO, Alice Faye Littlejohn (Freddie) of Gaffney, and Artis Means (Ralph) of Union; two brothers, Lindberg Hamilton (Ella Mae) and Wade Hamilton (Sharon) of Gaffney; brother-in-law, Miles (Pap) Tate of Gaffney; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, April 11th at 2 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Brother Ralph Means officiating.

The family is at the home of Wade and Sharon Hamilton, 128 Bates Road.

Larry Hunter

larry-hnterLarry Gene Hunter, 66, of Nazareth, PA, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 28, in Gracedale Healthcare.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of Ceola Hunter Posey and the late Freddie Lee Brackett. He was reared in the home of his grandparents, the late Trossie and Addie Hunter.

He was a 1970 graduate of Gaffney High School, a member of Island Creek Baptist Church, and an employee of Bethlehem Steel.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Odell, Billy, and the Rev. Perry Posey; uncle, T.C, Hunter; aunt, Tecora Oliver.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Iris Hunter of Pennsylvania; one brother, William Posey of Spartanburg; 3 sisters, Bessie M. Scott and Jackie Posey, both of Spartanburg, Carolyn P. White of Gaffney; sister-in-law, Vergie Posey of Gaffney; 2 grandchildren; aunts, Ruby Brackett, Gladys Johnson, and Judy Foster; uncles, Jacob, Bennie, Columbus, and Lincoln Hunter, all raised in the home as siblings.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 4 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating.

The family is at the home of Carolyn White, 365 Nancy Creek Road, Gaffney.

Mrs. Kathy Oglesby Fitzpatrick

25p1.previewMrs. Kathy Oglesby Fitzpatrick, 66, entered in eternal rest on Monday, March 28, in NMS Healthcare, Silver Spring, MD.

Wife of James Fitzpartick, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late Melton “Bub” Oglesby and the late Martha Wood Oglesby.

Kathy was a 1968 graduate of Granard High Class. She received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC, and a Masters Degree from Converse College, Spartanburg, SC.

She was a former member of Island Creek Baptist Church in Cowpens. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Landover, MD where she was a member of The Majestic Choir and a Deaconess.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Melton, Thomas Garfield, Wyatt Melton, Sr., Robert Jaye, and John Edward; two nephews, Wyatt Oglesby, Jr. and Ulysses Oglesby, Jr.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Darrell, daughter, Tiffany, both of the home; six brothers, James Robert (Sarah), Ulysses (Deloris), Kenneth Oglesby, all of High Point, NC; Michael (Audrey), Terry (Shiela), and Rev. Benjamin Oglesby, all of Cowpens, SC; 3 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Oglesby of Cowpens,

Mrs. Bernice Brunson (Von), Mrs. Gail Ivey (John); mother-in-law, Mrs. Elise Fitzpatrick of MD.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., in Shiloh Baptist Church, Landover, MD. Interment will be in Maryland.
