Deacon Freddie Nathaniel Davis

photo_002003_344700_1_31p1-preview_20161207-jpgxFreddie Nathaniel Davis, 78, of 4225 Glenhaven Drive, Atlanta, GA, transitioned to eternity on Saturday, December 3, 2016, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, Atlanta.

He was born in Cleveland County, NC and was a son of the late Fred Davis and Daisy Mae Lockhart .
He was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher. He was Mason, Shriner, and a retired brick mason.

Freddie was preceded in death by five siblings, Frank Lockhart, Nellie Proctor, Pollie Weathers, Gertrude Kilgore, and Mattie Jolee Lockhart.

Surviving are: two sons, Warren Nathaniel Davis of Decatur, GA and Andre Davis (Michelle) of Stone Mountain, GA; five daughters, Norene Davis-Cockerl (Avery) of Covington, GA, Tiffany Davis, Amanda Harper, Sheena Harper, and April Harper, all of Salisbury, NC; two sisters, Vordia Dawkins of Blacksburg and Peggy Davis of New Bern, NC; brother-in-law, Roy Weathers of Blacksburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 10th, at 1 p.m., in The Divine True Holiness Church of God in Blacksburg with Overseer T.A. Lockhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Joe Lee Bonner

joe-bonner2Joe Lee Bonner, 70, of 137 New Street, transitioned to eternity on Friday, November 25, 2016, in his home. Husband of Dorothy Littlejohn Bonner, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Joseph and Ola Simuel Bonner.

He was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church and a retired employee of Overnite Transportation Company.

Joe Lee was preceded in death by: a daughter, Joann Bonner; a brother, Larry Bonner, and sisters, Mae Reid and Wyzona Bonner; sister-in-law, Ida Mae Littlejohn and brother-in-law, Lonnie Littlejohn.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Danny Littlejohn of Gaffney and Billy Joe Bonner of the home; 5 daughters, Doris Bonner, Betty Bonner Hopper (Everett), Denise Bonner, Renee Bonner, and Cassandra Wilkins; 4 sisters, Betty Littlejohn, Eva Bonner, Linda Kay Bonner, and Diane Bonner; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Calleen Littlejohn, Flora Littlejohn, Gloria Littlejohn, and Leona Littlejohn, all of Gaffney.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 30  at 2 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating.

Johnny Dean Choice

johnny-choiceJohnny Dean Choice was born in Gaffney, S.C. on January 20, 1963 to Johnny Lee “Snake” Choice and Fair Lee Tate Choice. He entered eternal rest on Friday, November 4, 2016, in Mary Black Hospital-Spartanburg, SC.

Dean was educated in the public schools of Cherokee County, SC and was a graduate of Cherokee High School. He attended Philadelphia Baptist Church and was a former employee of Daddy Joe’s Beach House and Bar-be-cue. Dean contributed much to the happiness, love, joy, and inspiration of his family and those who were around him.

Dean was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, Claude Franklin Choice, and his grandparents, Sylvester and Mary Easter Tate and Montie and Willie Choice.

He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: three sisters, Judy A. Choice, Gwendolyn M. Choice, and Shannon D. Russell; nieces, LaCresha T. Choice, Deonica N. Choice, and Abrisha Kelly; nephews, Bruce, Keon, and Brandon M. Choice; aunts, Sadie Tate, Annie P. Lattimore, Carolyn Tate Jarvis (Grover), and Letha M. Choice; great-aunt, Katie M. Jones; uncles; Lloyd W. Tate (Nita), Aaron L. Tate, Sr. (Angela), Odesta Tate (Elaine), Zeb Tate, and Eddie D. Tate; two cousins reared in the home with him, Keshi and Jaushia Tate; a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12th at 2pm, in Philadelphia Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

He will be in state in the church Saturday at 1 pm.
