John Maurice Evans

John Maurice Evans, 52, of 112 Martin Lane, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gaffney and was a son of Linnie Poole Evans and the late John Lyman Evans.

John was a 1983 graduate of Gaffney High School and received a B.S. Degree from Limestone College in 2015. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former employee of The Timken Company.

John was a member of Concord Baptist Church where he served with the Audio Ministry and as an usher.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Nikiria Jeter of the home; a brother, Travis Smith of Baltimore, MD; four sisters, Karen Ferguson (Donald) of Spartanburg, Donna Ross (Johnny) Teresa Evans Hogue, and Rev. Deborah Livsey (Kelsey, Sr.) all of Gaffney.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 13, at 11 a.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of his mother at 810 W. Fairview Ave.

Earnest Daniel Bonner, Sr.

Earnest Daniel Bonner, Sr., 76, of 1038 Benton St., Columbia, SC, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Columbia.

Widower of Mary Jefferies Bonner, he was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Weldon and Ara Scott Bonner.

He was a former employee of Broad River Brick Company.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Earnest, Jr. and Rosalind Bonner; and siblings, James H. Bonner, Fulton Bonner, Samuel Bonner, Mary E. Powell, and Louise Bonner.

Surviving are: a son, Timothy Bonner of Gaffney; three daughters, Karen Bonner of Columbia, Bridget Dawkins and Dietra Makupson (Brian), of Gaffney; sisters, Juanita Bonner of Bronx, NY and Gwendolyn Lipscomb of Lynn, MA.; 15 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., in Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He may be viewed in the mortuary Tuesday and in the church Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.

The family is at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Dietra and Brian Makupson, 300 Frye Road in Gaffney.
