Otis Dean Camp

Otis Dean Camp, 63, of 113 Kennedy St., Gaffney, passed away Friday, February 4th, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

He was born in Cherokee County to Lucious Camp and Ruby Brown Camp Holmes.

Otis retired after 35years as a Truck Driver for UPS Freight. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, “Class of 1976.” He loved riding motorcycles, fishing, cars, and most of all his daughter and grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucious and Ruby Brown Camp; his grandparents, Miles Camp, Sr. and Maddie M. Camp.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his daughter, Brandy Camp and grandson, Brannon Oliver; of Gaffney, SC; two brothers, Preston Camp and Terry Wood, both of Gaffney, SC,; five sisters, Brenda Smith, of Gaffney, Ada Camp, of Gaffney, Minister Sylvia Adams, Teresa Adams, Veronica Adams, all of Gaffney, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be Thursday February 10th, at 2:00 p.m., at Fredrick Memorial Gardens with The Reverend Alice Littlejohn officiating.

Roger D. Byers

Roger D. Byers, 52, of Gastonia, NC, formerly of Gaffney, passed away Saturday morning, February 5th, in Gastonia.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late James Lipscomb and Francis Lee Byers.

Roger was a 1987 graduate of Gaffney High School. He was formerly employed as a cook for “The Smoke Pit” in Gastonia, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Virginia Byers, who raised him as her own.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his fiancé and her children, Jerrie Grisdale (Matthew Miller and Amber Berry); three daughters, Roderica Allen (Dr. Allen), Francesca Gardner, both of Blacksburg, SC, Brihana Williams, of Chesnee, SC; siblings, Steve Byers (Berietta), Mae Cureton, Betty Best (Ron), Vernell Byers, Larry Byers, James Byers, and Lee Byers (Esther); four grandchildren, Eli Panther, Trey Craig, Isiah Pettaway, Keaton Williams, plus 7 bonus grandchildren; “The Fab Five”, Wayne Byers (Rhonda), Veronica Jeter, Katina Posey (Rev. Freddie), and Nikki Hawk (Chris), including sibling, Steve Byers;

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, February 9th, at 2:00 p.m., in Shady Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Lee Byers officiating.

Edward McKinley Williams

Edward McKinley Williams, 69, of 178 Aden Street, Spartanburg, SC, passed away Sunday, January 30th, in his home.

Husband of Dorothy Reid Williams, he was born in Washington, D.C. and was a son of the late George and Georgianna Davis Williams.

He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC where he served as a Deacon and Head Minister of Music for 36 yrs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Betty Miller Williams, three siblings, The Reverend Van C. Williams, Willie Williams Greene and Amelia Williams Mooring.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Dorothy, of the home; his children, Jarvis Williams, Timothy Reid (Delisah), Rebecca Williams, Lydia Williams, Naomee Williams, Latoya McNeil (Joshua), all of Spartanburg, SC, Elizabeth Lindsay (Reginald), of Gaffney, SC, Darrick Williams (Kelly), of Columbia, SC, and Hosea Williams (Tegareoul), of Cowpens, SC; his siblings, George Williams (Spurgeon), and Larry Williams (Mary), both of Washington, DC, Stanley Williams, of Gaffney, SC; sister-in-law, Geneva Williams, of Gaffney; brother-in-law, Johnny Greene, of Spartanburg; god-child, Mahviesha Dowdell, of Gaffney, SC;15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, 1:00 p.m., at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Blacksburg with the pastor, The Reverend Jermaine Greene, officiating.
