James Robinson “Four Corners”

James “Four Corners” Robinson, 72, of 113 Taylor’s Lane, Gaffney, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021.

He was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a son of the late L.D. Dawkins, Sr. (Marie) and the late Pauline Weeks Robinson (Richard).

James served in the United States Marines and received an Honorable Discharge in 1974. He was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by: his parents; siblings, Mary Jane Lipscomb, Shirley Ann Weeks, Julia Rogers, and Linda Holmes. He leaves to cherish loving memories: his children, LaShawn Abrams, Randy Montgomery, Tyrone Robinson, Rose Robinson Lawrence, Roslyn Robinson, Tabula Tate, Shondre Robinson, Bradshaw, Littlejohn, and Lacie Littlejohn; siblings, Minnie Ellis, Carolyn Falls, Louise Bryant, Jessie Mae (W.C.) Manning, Etta Jones, Rev. Mary Jefferies, Pamela Black, Shelia Dawkins; a brother, L.D. Dawkins, Jr. (Bernice); 32 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A Service will be Monday, November 22, 2021, 2:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel.

Bessie Lee Thompson Proctor

Mrs. Bessie Proctor, age 85, of 409 Vermont Dr., Gaffney, passed away Sunday, November 14th, in Spartanburg Medical Center.
Widow of Hubert Leo Proctor, Sr., she was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Maggie Davis Thompson.
She was a 1955 graduate of Granard High School and a graduate of Cherokee Vocational School with a degree in Practical Nursing.
Mrs. Proctor was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as Senior Direc-tor of the Buds of Promise Choir for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Nurses’ Guild and former Gospel Chorus. She retired from Cherokee Memorial Hospital after 25 years as a Ma-ternity Nurse.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lola P. Mayberry, her brother, Jerome Thompson, a sister, Ruby Proctor, and grandson, Rashaun Haywood.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her children, The Reverend Dr. Teresa Black (The Rever-end Dr. Larry), of Spartanburg, SC, Vanessa Proctor Mayberry (Darrell), Andrea Proctor, of the home, Hubert Leo Proctor, Jr (Wanda), of Columbia, SC, Minister Gloria Smith (Bishop Kirk-land), of Duncan, SC; son-in-law, Darren Mayberry, of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Dorothy Dewber-ry, Bennie Knuckles, Shirley Jamison, Pernice Knuckles, all of Gaffney; sisters-in-law, Tinnie Watkins, Carolyn Burgess, both of Gaffney, Joyce Mackupson, Louise Gardner, both of Spar-tanburg, Shirley Alexander, of Chesnee, Beverly Thompson, of Gaffney; brother-in-law, Robert Watkins (DeeDee), of Inman, SC; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grand-child; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.


A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, November 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., in Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. J.W. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at 409 Vermont Dr., Gaffney.

Lizzie Littlejohn

Mrs. Lizzie Littlejohn, age 91, of 104 Pryor Street, passed away Thursday, November 11th, in her home.

She was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late Freeman and Lois Hoey Littlejohn.

Lizzie was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Sam, E.G., William, Eva, and Straucye. She leaves to cherish loving memories: a brother, Robert Littlejohn, of the home; two sisters, Annie Littlejohn, of the home and Nettie Mearite, of Thomasville, NC; several nieces and newphews, including niece, Sierra Terrill, raised in the home; other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service will be will Thursday, November 18th, at 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Larry Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family members are at their respective homes.
