Shondra Antione “Dra” Camp

Shondra Antione “Dra” Camp, 45, of 566 Boiling Springs Hwy, Gaffney, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, in his home.

He was born January 17, 1976 in Cherokee County and was a son of Deborah C. Blanton and the late Lester Rice.

Shondra was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church at an early age. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and an employee of Gestamp in Union, SC.

In addition to his father he was predeceased by his grandparents, Deacon J.B. Camp, Helen Morris Camp, Earnestine Rice; ; uncles, John Camp, Joe Camp, Jay Camp, and Dennis Camp; an aunt, Brenda C. Foster.

He leaves to cherish fond loving memories: his mother, Deborah Camp, of the home; step-father, Donald Blanton, of North Carolina; two sisters, Hikel S. Blanton, of Gaffney and Eugenia Leary, of Boiling Springs, NC; three brothers, Jermaine Edwards, of Boiling Springs, NC, Karrel Willis, of Pittsburg, PA, Brian Edwards, of Shelby; aunts, Lois C. Oglesby, of Charlotte, NC., Rebecca C. Armstrong, of Gaffney, SC., Rachel Rice Chambers (Keith), of Gastonia, NC., and Jeannette Rice Morris, of Shelby, NC.; uncles, Howard L. Camp, of Lyman, SC., Roger Camp, of Gaffney, SC., Avery Camp (Ros), of Gaffney, SC., Robert Rice, of Gastonia, NC., and Danny Rice, of Hendersonville, NC.; other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.


A Funeral Service will be Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 2:30 p.m., in Mikes Creek Baptist Church with The Reverend Courtney Mills, officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

Albert Gerald Black

Albert Gerald Black, son of the late Theodore R. Black and Olema Wiggins Black, was born on December 28,1940 in Spartanburg, SC.
Husband of Dianne Jenkins Black, his wife of 47 years passed away on Tuesday, November 2,2021.
He was educated in the schools of Spartanburg, SC, graduating from Carver High School in 1958. He worked as an automotive technician with Central Auto Service in Spartanburg, Sc. He attended South Carolina State University and Clemson University, was an Automotive Technology Instructor with the Greenville County School System (13 yrs.) and Spartanburg School District Seven, where he retired after 19 years of service in (1998) and owned and operated Quality Auto Repair.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are daughters; Ann Black Jones (Curtis), of Mayo, SC., Lt. Col. retired USAF Prudence Renee’ Black Anderson (Frederick), of Pensacola, FL., Shirley Jenkins Crosby (Bernard), of Spartanburg, SC., Sheryl Jenkins Brown (Ben), of Spartanburg, SC., Pinara Dene Black Smith, of Plymouth, MI.; sons, Adrian L. Black, of Spartanburg, SC., Kareem A. Briggs (Mia), of Columbia, SC., Albert W. Black (Brenda), of Spartanburg, SC., Dereck A. McClellan, of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Gertrude “Trudy” Black Ellis (Charles), of Spartanburg, SC., Sally Patricia “Pat” Black Bridges (Clarence); sister-in-law, Mary E. Black, of Spartanburg, SC.; 28 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James “Jimmy” W. Black and William T. “Tommy” Black.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in Silver Hill United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, SC.

William Carter

William Carter, age 71, of 114 First Street, Gaffney, passed away Wednesday, October 27th, in Cherokee Medical Center.

He was born January 21, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan to Nathan Carter and Ada Mae Brooks.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Carter and a brother, Nathan Carter.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Tadaria Bailey, of Detroit and Germira Carter; two daughters, Licia Carter, of Gaffney and Marquita Bailey, of Detroit; a brother, Lonnie Carter, of Detroit; three sisters, Linda Bell, Denise Carter and Diedre Carter, all of Detroit; 7 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.


Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, in Detroit, MI.
