Mrs. Gloria Shears Tate

Gloria Shears Tate, 70, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021, in SMC Mary Black Campus.

She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of the late Samuel and Lillie Wood Shears.

Gloria was a graduate of Granard High School, a seamstress, and a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by: two sons, Kendrick Tate (Rhonda), of Spartanburg, SC, and Wesley Tate , of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Betty Karen Granger, of Jacksonville, FL and Shirley Tate (Johnny), of Gaffney; brothers, Arlene Shears (Willie Ann), of Greensboro, NC, William Shears (Nellie), Freddie Shears, and Dean Shears, all of Gaffney; Evon Shears (Debra), of Clover, SC, Ricky Dawkins(Gerene), of Spartanburg; a special friend, Isaiah Maybin, of Boiling Springs; 4 grandchildren, Whitney, Mydia, Chandler, and Myles Tate; 3 great-grandchildren, Darius (D.J.) Shippy, D-Wade Tate, and Hendrix Vernon; other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m., in Greater Hope Ministries with Rev. Caroline Allen-Jones and Rev. William Cleveland. Interment will be in New Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of Kendrick and Rhonda Tate, 411 Pleasant Ridge Court, Spartanburg.

Sheldon Shickarr Mack, Sr.

Sheldon Shickarr Mack, Sr. 45, of 831 Holly Grove Road, Blacksburg, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

He was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Ophanel Mack, Jr. and the late Phyllis Thompson Mack.

Sheldon was a 1995 graduate of Gaffney High School and an employee of IAC of Spartanburg.

He was predeceased by: aunts, Annie Jordan and Wanda Hush; uncles, Samuel Davidson, Charlie Mack, and Donnie Mack. He leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Sheldon Mack, Jr., of Gaffney; a sister, Cathy Hines, of Stamford, CT; brothers, Justin Mack, of Blacksburg, Ron Mack, of Mauldin, SC, and Anthony Hines, of Florida; aunts, Elaine Dawkins (Bobby), Deborah Mayberry, Cheryl Davidson, all of Gaffney, Patricia Hamilton, of Asheville, NC; special friends, Carolyn Austin Mack, Patrick Rainey, and Tim Smith, all of Gaffney; other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Derrick Wood officiating. Interment will be in Gaffney Memorial Park.

Paul Lawrence Jefferies

Paul Lawrence Jefferies, 62, of 601 W. Rutledge Ave., passed away Wednesday, March 3rd, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Husband of Vanessa Harris Jefferies, he was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Frank and Lessie Graham Jefferies.

Paul was a graduate of Gaffney High School and furthered his education at Benedict College, Columbia, SC.  He was a member of Dunton United Methodist Church and retired  fromNestle as Maintenance Supervisor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jarvis, and siblings, Eric, Dwight, Sarah, Helena, and Catherine.  

He leaves to cherish loving memories:  his wife, Vanessa, of the home; two daughters, Alexis Jefferies and Laquesha Wilkins (Marcus, Sr.), of Charlotte, NC; six brothers, Shelley Jefferies (Anita), of Gaffney, Gregory Jefferies (Teresa), of Gaffney, James Franklin Jefferies, Jr. (Virginia), Donnie Graham (Roslyn), of Gaffney, Quintin Jefferies, of New Jersey, and Anthony Jefferies, of Texas; two sisters, Andra Kaye Akridge and Wanda Jefferies, of New Jersey; other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 12, 2021, 3:00 p.m., at The Gilmore Mortuary.
