William “Deanie” Camp, Jr.
William “Deanie” Camp, age 68, fell asleep in death on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. William was born on August 21, 1952, in Gaffney, SC to the late B. Junior and Maggie Camp.
William was a member and trustee of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. William was progressively gaining more knowledge from the Bible to develop a deeper
relationship with God. William often spoke to family and friends about his increasing love for God; in fact, one of the last conversations William had with his oldest daughter was about Matthew 6:9, 10, where Jesus Christ encouraged his disciples to pray for God’s Kingdom to come.
William truly enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends. William is well known for his compassion and generous spirit as well as his many acts of kindness toward others. William, fondly known as ‘Deanie’, was a very meek and peaceable soul; his greatest joy was in helping people in any way he could. William was an Army veteran, and was so proud of his service. After his military service, William entered into civilian work and eventually retired from Hamrick’s Mill. After retirement, William was often found relaxing in his recliner watching his beloved San Francisco 49ers; win or lose, he was a loyal fan.
William is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Rocksan ‘Roxie’ Camp; three brothers: L.D Huskey, Eddie Hue Huskey, and Sammy Lee Huskey; and two sisters: Doris Crosby, and Patricia Camp.
Left to cherish wonderful memories of William is his oldest daughter, Nakesha ‘Nikki’ Camp of Waldorf, MD; three sisters: Alta Thompson of Gaffney, SC, Kathleen Adams of Gaffney, SC, and Bessie Camp of Gaffney, SC; one brother: James ‘Boot’ Camp and his wife Mary of Gaffney, SC; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Huskey of Gaffney, SC and Ella Allen-Huskey of Essex, MD; and a precious friend and companion, Ms. Louise Simons.
William also leaves four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Although proud of his military career and civilian work, William was most proud of being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. ‘Uncle Deanie’ will be sorely missed by many nieces and nephews.
Public Viewing will be held Tuesday 10:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Private Funeral Service will be held for invited family only.
