John Roland Studyvance

John Roland Studyvance, 69, of 501 Beech St., passed away Friday, January 22nd, in his home. He was born on April 19, 1951 in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Furman and Carrie Butler Studyvance.

Roland was a retiree as a Custodian for Granard Middle School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rickey and James Studyvance; six sisters, Corine McCoy, Susie Smith, Elvina Coleman, Elese Studyvance, Pernice Studyvance, and Margaret Smith.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his children, Shirley Manning, Rozet Manning, John Dean Manning, Lewis and Minnie Logan, all of Gaffney; six brothers, Furman, Jr. (Rosa Lee), Billy, Larry, Ronnie, Donnie (Debra) Studyvance, all of Gaffney, and Paul Studyvance (Sandra), of High Point, NC; four sisters, Annie Mae Tate, Mary Byers, Carrie Valentine, all of Gaffney, and Barbara Littlejohn (Walter), of Toledo, OH; his best friend, Geraldine Logan; two aunts, Helen Camp and Helen Butler, of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be Friday, January 29, 2021, at 12:00 noon, in Gaffney Memorial Park.

The family is at 124 Indiana Circle, Gaffney, SC.

Bobby Terriell Leach

Mr. Bobby Terriell Leach, 44, of 219 Camellia Circle, passed away Friday night in his home.

He was born in Gaffney and was the son of Mrs. Eloise Camp Leach and the late Bobbie Dean Leach.

Bobby was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church where he served as director of the Voices of Praise and former director of the Male Choir. He was a former member of Triumphant Praise Gospel Singers.

He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Norman Leach. Bobby leaves to cherish loving memories: his mother, Mrs. Eloise Leach, of the home; a sister, Jacqueline Leach (Minister Samuel); brothers, Calvin Louis Leach (Tammy), Richard Leach and Aundray Leach, all of Gaffney; god-son, Anthony Mayer, of Spartanburg; aunts, Geraldine Morris, Tecola Wood (Marvin), Isabell Talon, Jenelle Holmes (Louis) Linda White, and Peggy Mills; uncles, Rev. Samuel Leach (Elaine), and James C. Camp; great-aunts, Valerie Manning, Free Robinson, and Thelma Leach; other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., in Mikes Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Courtney Mills officiating.


Vernell Palmer Robinson

Mrs. Vernell Palmer Robinson of 100 Huntington Square, passed away Thursday, January 21st, in Pacifica Skyland Place, Spartanburg, SC.

Widow of Eldred Robinson, Sr., she was born in Cherokee County, July 23, 1939 to Babylon Sr. and Malinda Lou Wilkins Palmer.

Vernell was a retired custodian of the Spartanburg High School District.

The family is at 109 Riverbank Drive and request that visits to the home be made between the hours of 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by eight brothers, Clarence, Tom, Bo June, Jesse, Billy Dean, Johnny, Jimmy and Dennis Palmer; a sister, Elmer Cumberlander.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Eldred Robinson, Jr. and Clarence Lee Robinson, both of Charlotte; two daughters, Jennifer Copeland (Anthony) and Nellie Ree Robinson, both of Gaffney; four sisters, Shirley Crosby, of Shelby, Louise Thomas, of Spartanburg, Helen Smith, of Washington, DC, and Lilliam Smith, of Gaffney; 7 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Mark Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Union SC, with Rev. Lewis Davis officiating.
