Mrs. Brenda Foster Tate

Brenda Foster Tate, 65, of 101 Piedmont Street, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Wife of Reginald Tate, she was born in Cherokee County, SC on September 3, 1955 to Milton and Lillian Smith Foster.

Brenda was a Baptist and a retired textile employee who loved cooking, fishing, and taking care of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Milton Boyd Foster, Jr., Sammy Foster and Ann Hogue.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Reginald Tate; three sons, Dennis Foster of Gaffney, Daniel Foster (Laura) of York, and Ricardo Foster (Marie) of Spartanburg; three brothers, Lawrence Foster (Catherine), Robert Foster (Sheila) both of Gaffney, Lewis Foster( Georgia) of Gaffney; two sisters, Lizzie Frawley (Thomas) and Barbara Shippy both of Spartanburg; two sisters in-law, Twana Foster and Susie Foster of Gaffney; a special friend, Rickey Smith of Gaffney; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be Sunday, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, October 19th, at 1:00 p.m., in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, 3105 Jerusalem Rd, Pacolet, SC 29372 Please practice social distancing and wear a mask!


Elmer Buckson

Elmer Buckson, 71, of, 100 Independence Blvd., Charlotte, NC, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 in Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, NC.

Widower of Madie Morgan Buckson, he was born in Cherokee County, SC on September 9, 1949 to Emanuel and Martha Robinson Buckson.

Elmer was a retiree on Road Construction for the Highway Department.

In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by: three siblings, Opal Diane Buckson, Charles Eugene Buckson, and Gracie Buckson.

Elmer leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Leon Buckson of Charlotte; four brothers, Freddie Buckson (Debbie) of Vacaville, CA, Earl Buckson (Carol) of Gaffney, Richard Lee Buckson (Mona) of Winston Salem, NC, and William Buckson of Gaffney; a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service will be Saturday, October 17th, 1:00 p.m., in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Richard Lee Buckson. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask!

Gwendolyn Reid Fincher

Mrs. Gwendolyn Reid Fincher, 82, of 303 Dogwood Dr., passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020, in Prisma Health North Greenville Hospital.

She was the wife of Ulisher J. Fincher, Jr.

Gwendolyn was born June 10, 1938 in Cherokee County, SC  to WT and Genell Corry Coleman.

She was a graduate of Granard High School, Class of 1955.  “Gwen” was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, usher and member of the Finance Committee.  She was  a member of VFW Post #3447.

Gwen was predeceased by her parents and her first husband, Millard Jethro Reid.

She leaves to cherish loving memories to: her husband, Ulisher Fincher, Jr. of the home; five children; Sylvia Reid Thomas (Chuck) of Alexandria, Va, Tami Reid Camp (Kevin) of Inman, SC, Carla Reid Knuckles (Sheldon) of Spartanburg, SC, Jeffery Reid (Tawanna) of Knoxville, TN, and Millicent Reid Norris of Gaffney, SC; two brothers, William Thomas Coleman (Geral) of East Orange, NJ and Benjamin Coleman of Gaffney, SC; six grandchildren, Kevin D. Camp, II, Jonathan L. Knuckles, Sydni R. Knuckles, Miles H. Norris, Ayana G. Reid and Madison Reid; a great grandchild, Nilah C. Knuckles; host of other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Wednesday, Oct, 7th, at 10:00 to 1:00 in the Gilmore Mortuary followed with a Graveside Service and Interment at 2:00 p.m., in Oakland Cemetery, with Rev. Cathy Neal and Rev. Dr. James Sanders, Jr.
