James Bernard Harrison

James “Jimmy” Bernard Harrison, 66, of 416 North Highland, Gastonia, North Carolina, formerly of Gaffney, SC passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Atrium Health Hospital in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

James was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina on December 2, 1953 to Nellie E. Littlejohn Humphries. He was reared by Juanita Gaston Harrison and James Randolph Harrison.


Jimmy was a graduate of Gaffney High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. At a young age, he joined Philadelphia Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC.


He was predeceased by his loving parents, Juanita and James Harrison, and a daughter, Marian Hoey.


Jimmy leaves to cherish loving memories his biological mother: Nellie E. Humphries; Four Children: Laquanda “Missy” Harris, Pasty Washington, Terrance Leach and James Randolph Harrison (Sharon). Five sisters: Geraldine Littlejohn, Nancy Barnes, Nellie Mae Littlejohn, Annie Mae Littlejohn, and Varlene Littlejohn. One brother: Paul Dean Littlejohn (Tina). One Aunt: Erica Corry. Additional family members include: 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his devoted guardian, caregiver and cousins Samuel and Ida Reid.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., at The Gilmore Mortuary with Rev. Nikki Fitzpatrick officiating.


The family is at the home of Beverly Harris, 216 Martin Luther King St.

Lincoln Hugh Hunter

Lincoln Hugh Hunter, 81, of Gaffney, passed away Monday October 26, 2020 in his residence.

Husband of Elaine Harris Hunter, he was born in Anderson County S.C. to Trossie Cleo and Addie Tucker Hunter.

Lincoln was a Master Electrician and owner of Hooker’s Electric Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, T.C. Hunter, Tecora Oliver, and Bennie A. Hunter.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Elaine Harris Hunter of the home, two sons, Lincoln Tyrone Hunter of Charlotte and Michael Todd Hunter (Latoya) of Gaffney; a daughter, Sheila H. Littlejohn (Michael) of Gaffney; two brothers, Jacob C. Hunter of Spartanburg and Columbus Hunter of Cowpens; four sisters, Ceola Posey of Gaffney, Ruby Mae Brackett of Cowpens, Gladys Johnson of Inman, and Judy Foster of New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He will lie in state Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Island Creek Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating, assisted by Rev. James Armstrong, Rev. Jacob C. Hunter II, and Rev. Dr. A.L. Brackett. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Public Viewing will be Saturday, from 10:00 to 6:00 p.m.!

Sara Frances Dover

Sara Frances Dover , 70, was born in Cherokee County, SC on April 23, 1950. She was a daughter of Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Phillips and raised by Collis and Julia Petty.

Sara was a member of the graduating class of 1970 and a former textile employee. She was a faithful member of Suck Creek Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Choir and YWAs.

She was preceded in death by a brother Terry Phillips.

In addition to her parents she leaves to cherish loving memories: her children, Shawn Dover (Shaun) of Boiling Springs, Dawn Dover of Gaffney, Torri Dover of Boiling Springs, and Michael Dover (Kim) of Gaffney; siblings, Linda Kay Philips of Boiling Springs, Laura Floyd of Virginia, Sonji Philips of Virginia, Thomas Gene Phillips of Charlotte, Walter “Sonny” Blanton of Virginia; aunts, Melrose Dover and Martha Hamilton; two favorite cousins, Jeanette Harris of Shelby and Marshall Dover of Gaffney; twelve grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., in Suck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tony Macomson officiating.
