John Robert “JJ” Jenkins, Sr.

John Robert “JJ” Jenkins, Sr., 64, of 114 Beltline Rd., passed away Friday, July 31st, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

He was the husband of Shirley Marie Tate Jenkins and son of the late Clarence and Anna Brown Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins was a graduate of Gaffney High School “Class of 74”, a retiree from Brown’s Furniture, a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and a Veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sammie Jenkins, James, Jenkins and Geraldine Smith.

In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish loving memories: a daughter, Jacinta “Mesia” Jenkins of the home, two sons, John “Jr” Jenkins, Jr. of Gaffney and Ja’Ron (Roki) Jenkins of the home; a sister, Anna Marie Harris of Gaffney; 5 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service with Military Rites will be Friday, 11”00 a.m., in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Freddie Davidson officiating.

Mrs. Ruby Audrey Simmons

Mrs. Ruby Audrey Simmons, 69, of 133 New St., passed away Thursday, July 30th, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

She was born on August 2, 1950 in Cherokee County to the late  Eloise Simmons and  Jessie Daniels.

Mrs. Simmons was a retiree of The Commission of Aging in Nashiville, TN, and Frito-Lay in Charlotte, NC. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandmother Lucy Simmons and a sister, Angie Simmons.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sisters, Syble Brooks (Ronald) and Sheila Watkins (Lawrence) both of Gaffney; two brothers, George Simmons (Brenda) of Kannapolis, NC and Michael Simmons of the home; a host of nieces, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial Service will be by Zoom on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 1:40 p.m.

Mr. Norman Canipe

Norman Canipe, 57, of 924 W. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC, passed away Thursday, July 30th in CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC.

He was born on August 26, 1962 by the late Earnest Odell and Ollie Ruth Barnette Canipe.

Mr. Canipe was a member of CrossView Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Diane Canipe, Teresa Canipe, Trudy Canipe; a niece, Toni Mace; a great nephew, Christian Sabastian Stanley.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a brother, Roger Dale Canipe of Kings Mountain, NC; two nieces, Mandy Lynn Stanley and Barbie Putnam both of Gastonia, NC; great nieces, Autumn Rain Stanley and Nicole Welch; a great nephew Jordan “JoJo” Stanley Renner of Daytona Beach, Fl; a host of great-great nieces and nephews and friends.
