Mrs. Catherine White Logan

Catherine White Logan, 78, of 206 E. Clairborne St., Blacksburg, answered the Master’s call on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Spartanburg Medical Center.

She was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a daughter of the late Rev. James White, Sr., and the late Mary Ardella Wilson White. Widow of Gatchet Logan, she was a graduate of Granard High School, a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Blacksburg, and a retired employee of TNS Mills.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: three daughters, Barbara White of the home, Tonya Walker, of Gaffney, and Beverly Logan, of the home; a sister, Mary Ann White, of Blacksburg; brothers, James White, Jr. (Diane), of Charlotte, NC, John H. White (Vera), of Columbia, SC, Cornelius White, Clarence White, Eugene White (Shirley), and McKinley White , all of Blacksburg, Conwell White (Sandra), of Boiling Springs, NC; grandchildren, Shun Dover, Jaylon Linder, Christopher James, and Landyn Logan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held Sunday from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., at Galilee Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow at, 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Lewis Duckett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

James Lee “Rick” Moore

James Lee Moore, 62, of 1317 West Main Street, Union, SC passed away Saturday in Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

He was born in Union County, September 9, 1958 to Leo and Rosa Littlejohn Moore.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ida Mae Moore Smith and two brothers in-law, Dennis Smith, Sr. and Billy Joe.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a brother, Leo Moore, Jr. (Christine) of Union, three sisters, Carrie Lee Moore Smith of Jonesville, Joyce Ann Moore Glenn (Vernon) of Union and Nancy Hopp of Union; twelve nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., in Jonesville Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hilda Mae Wilson Degree


Mrs. Hilda Mae Wilson Degree, 82, of 200 Friday Street Apt 3-3, Blacksburg, SC, passed away Friday, in Spartanburg Regional Mary Black Campus.

She was born in Cherokee County on April 25, 1938 by the late Kelly and Gennevie Hopper Wilson and widowed to .

She worked as a domestic worker for over fifty years.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Degree; a brother, Russell Wilson (Janie of Blacksburg.)

Hilda leaves to cherish loving memories:  five sons, Billy Degree (Karen) of Gaffney, Bruce Degree (Zina) of Abseon, N.J., Jeffrey Degree of Blacksburg, Corey Degree (Stacey) of Shelby, and Carpenter Degree of Columbia, SC; two daughters, Charlotte (Sgt. Eric Misher) of Fayetteville, N.C. and Valerie Degree (Julius) of Gaffney; two brothers, Kelly Wilson (Lillian) of Spartanburg and Howard Wilson (Brenda) of Gaffney; three sisters, Gladys Wilson of Gaffney, Mary Logan of Gaffney, and Diane Williams of Green Acres, FL; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Anitonette Frazier, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Blacksburg.
