Rev. Henry Donald Dawkins

Rev. Henry Donald Dawkins, 72, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Sunday, October 27,2019 at Atrium Health Main. He was born in Gaffney and was a son of the late Jack and Quincy Wilkins Dawkins. He was the husband of Margaret. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at Logan Chapel CME Church 9505 Parkton Dr. Charlotte, NC 28212.Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the service will follow at 2:00 pm. Military Rites will take place after the service. Interment will be on Wednesday, November 5, 2019 in the Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville, NC 28144 at 11:00 am.

Thomas “Round” Allen Studyvance

Thomas “Round” Allen Studyvance, 58, of A-3 Granard Courts, passed away Thursday, October 17th, in Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Gaffney on November 5, 1960 and was the son of Furman and Rosa Lee Byers Studyvance.

He was a 1978 graduate of Gaffney High School. He attended Kindom Hall of Jehovah witnesses.

Thomas was preceded in death by a sister, Damita Studyvance.

In addition to his parents, surviving are; his children, Terence D. Studyvance (Marquita ) of Gastonia, Tasha Jefferies (Jamil) of York; three brothers, Edmond O’Neal Studyvance (Belva), Jeffrey Undra Studyvance, and Keith Studyvance, all of Gaffney; a sister, Coral Dover of Gaffney; 6 grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Services will be held Wednesday 3:00 p.m. in the Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Elder Brian Phifer officiating.

The family is at the home of his parents, 98 Granite Drive.

Annie Mae Smith Jefferies

Gracefully and peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019, surrounded by family in her home in Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Annie Mae Smith Jefferies answered the Master’s call and exchanged her cross for a crown.

Annie Mae was born on June 11, 1933 in Gaffney, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Lillie Mae Tate and the late Robert Lee Smith.

Annie Mae accepted Christ at a very young age. She relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1959 and became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. She then went on to continue her education at Kent State University in 1996, and received a certificate.

Annie Mae loved bingo and playing cards, tong was her favorite card game. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. She loved to help people and was known by many as Momma Jefferies. She was an inspiration of strength and love for her family and friends. Annie Mae always had a smile on her face and was full of wisdom.

Annie Mae was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hammond Smith, Robert Smith Jr, and John D. Smith; sons, James (June) Jefferies and Dennis Jefferies; and her grandson, James Jefferies.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory are: her loving children, Johnny Jefferies (Naomi), Barbara Kennedy (Larry), Robert Jefferies (Deborah), Henrietta Gould, Willie Jefferies (Kimbley), John Jefferies (Centenial); aunts, Maria Dawkins, Estelle Dawkins, and Rosetta Dawkins; 37 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 10th, 12:00 noon, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. A.L. Brackett and Rev. Dr. Michael A. Bridges.
