Ella Faye Bruton Gulent

Ella Faye Bruton Gulent, 70, of 805 Hetty Hill Street, passed away Tuesday, December 18, in Mary Black Hospital, Gaffney.

She was born in Spartanburg County and was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Loree Jones Graham.

Ella Faye was a graduate of Granard High School and received a B.A. Degree in Sociology from Benedict College, Columbia, SC. She was a retired employee of Nestle Corporation.

She was a member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a former member of the Sunday School, Senior Choir, and Girl’s Auxiliary. She was also a member of Virgin Mary Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Richardson.

Surviving are: one sister, Betty Edwards of Gaffney; nieces, Tina, Glenda, and Paula Edwards, all of Gaffney; aunts, Mary McCoy of Greer, SC and Deloris Jones of Elizabeth, NJ; a special friend, Willie James Littlejohn, of Gaffney; a host of other friends including, Finley Tate of Gaffney.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 2:30 p.m., in Limestone Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Golden officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

She will be in state in the church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The family is at the home of her sister, Betty Edwards, 152 Camellia Circle.

Walter F. Littlejohn

Walter F. Littlejohn, 88, of Gaffney, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, in the Peachtree Centre.

Husband of Leota Sherard Littlejohn, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Carl and Phines Talley Littlejohn.

Walter was a graduate of Granard High School and Area Trade School in Denmark, SC. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of Hoechst Celanese.

He was a faithful member of Dunton United Methodist Church and served as: Sunday School Teacher, former Sunday School Superintendent, usher, and Father of the Church. He was a member and former Worshipful Master of Mountain View Masonic Lodge #301. He also served as Past High Priest of King Solomon Chapter #46 and Special Deputy of Cherokee County Masons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Charlie, Carl, Leroy, and Allen Littlejohn, and Barbara Brunson.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Leota Littlejohn, of the home; two daughters, Shawn Boyd (Elbert) of Flower Mound, TX , and Kara Parson (Marcel) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Bryce and Brynna Boyd of Texas, and James Parson of NC; honorary son, Bryan Eugene Tate of Gaffney; god-daughter, Carla McCollum Mitchell of Charleston, SC; three brothers, Hilliard Littlejohn of Gaffney, SC, Wilbur Littlejohn of Charlotte, NC, and Wayne Littlejohn (Lydia) of Melbourne, FL; two sisters, Dorothy Alford of Charlotte, NC, and Phines Jones of Florence, SC; sister-in-law, Toledo Littlejohn of Gaffney; brother-inlaw, James Brunson of Florence; aunt, Hannah Linder of Gaffney; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 12:00 noon, in Dunton United Methodist Church with Rev. Calvin L. Smith officiating. Interment will be in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery in Anderson.

He will be in state in the church Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be at the home daily from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Dunton United Methodist Church Sunday School.

Parthelia Carpenter

Mrs. Parthelia Davis Carpenter, daughter of the late Willie and Emma Davis, was born in Sumter, South Carolina, on February 17, 1949. Mrs. Carpenter entered eternal rest after an extended illness on Saturday, December 15, 2018, in Orangeburg Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, SC

Parthelia was a graduate of Lincoln High School as well as South Carolina State University. She was extremely active in her community and her church, St. Luke Presbyterian Church USA. Among the various committees and organizations that Parthelia was actively involved include: The St. Luke Presbyterian Church Choir; Presbyterian Women; The Thirteen Hearts Bridge Club; the “SMASH” Dance Group for Senior Citizens, and the St. Luke Line Dancers.

Parthelia has left behind countless individuals who have been touched by her beautiful soul. Among the individuals who have been left to celebrate her life and wonderful memories are her devoted husband Dr. Carl A. Carpenter; her loyal daughter Mrs. Carla C. Adams (Brian); her steadfast son Dr. Carl A. Carpenter II (Sharesa); her proud grandsons Brandon Carl Adams and Brent Carlton Adams; her precious granddaughters, Karrington Lillian Carpenter and Kennedi Lauren Carpenter; her faithful siblings, Geneva Thomas, Blondell Tillman, Beatrice Woods (Harby), Brenda WestPoint, Raymaynard Davis, Alethia Tate (Larry); an unwavering sister-in-law Frances Fields; her many committed nieces, nephews, cousins; and of course, her devout friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 20th, in St. Luke Presbyterian Church U.S.A. with Rev. Dr. McKinley Washington officiating. Interment will follow in Bellville Memorial Gardens.
