Marcellus Barnett Ratchford

Marcellus Barnett Ratchford, 50, of 630 W. Buford Street, passed away Tuesday, January 22nd, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gaffney and was a son of Yong Suk Song Williams and the late Harry James Ratchford, Sr.

Barnett was a former member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and a former employee of Piedmont Glass Company of Gaffney and Milliken of Union.

Surviving are: his mother, Yong Suk Williams (Lloyd), of Gaffney; daughter, Diamond Ratchford, of Gaffney; brother, Harry James Ratchford, Jr. (Kai), of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Jessica Norris (Maurice Burris), of Gaffney; aunt, Oveda Dawson, of Batimore, MD; two grandchildren, Harlem Ka’Mori Smith and James Da’Shon Shippy, Jr., both of Gaffney and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service will be Monday, 1:00 p.m., in Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Freddy Davidson and Rev. Xavier Haney.  Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

He will be in state in the church Monday at noon.

Charlie Lightening

Charlie Lightening, 70, of 483 Lockhart Lane, passed away Sunday, January 20, in Ivy Grove Residential Care, Gaffney.

He was born in York County and was a son of the late Will Jameison and Mary Lightening.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Sunday School.

Surviving are: 2 brothers, John F. Lightening (Parnice) of Gaffney and John Lightening of Greenville, Bobby Jameison of York; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 3:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Dr. J.W. Sanders, Jr., officiating. The family is at 102 McArthur Street.

Nellie Lois Littlejohn

Nellie Lois Littlejohn, of Gaffney, passed away Monday, December 31st, in Spartanburg, SC.

She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of the late Mr. Columbus and Mrs. Evelyn Dawkins Littlejohn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffani A. Littlejohn; 2 sisters, Mrs. Pearlie Mae Mitchem and Mrs. Diane Mayes; nephew, Calvin Todd Morgan.

Surviving are: a daughter, Anissia Littlejohn, of Gaffney; a son, Harold Dean Littlejohn, Jr., of the home; 7 grandchildren, Lakeithia Allen, Crystal Littlejohn, Georja Littlejohn, Georgio Littlejohn, Jennifer Littlejohn, Lacey Littlejohn, Tyler Littlejohn, all of Gaffney; 8 great-grandchildren; 8 sisters, Mrs. Evelene Davis (Charles) of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Sarah Davidson, Mrs. Brenda Morgan, Mrs. Ollie Mae Hollis, Mrs. Ruby Hemphill (Billy), Ms. Corinne Dawkins, Ms. Peggy Littlejohn, Mrs. Barbara Haney (Terry); brothers, Mr. Ronnie D. Littlejohn (Betty), and Mr. Bobby D. Littlejohn, all of Gaffney; a special aunt, Mrs. Bontee Hoey, of Gaffney; a special niece, Sheal Littlejohn, of Gaffney; other nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.

A private burial is scheduled for Thursday.
