Dennis Louis Watkins

Dennis Louis Watkins, 55, of 353 E. Floyd Baker Blvd., passed away Saturday, January 5th, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Cherokee County, SC on March 2, 1963 and was a son of the late L.D. and Maggie Watkins Smith.

He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, a Baptist, and an employee of the City of Gaffney. 

Dennis was preceded in death by siblings, Matthew, Randy, and Alfonzo “Freddie” Watkins, Cathy Watkins-Tate, and Judy Watkins-Lightning.

Surviving are: his wife, Hazel, of the home; two daughters, Demeka Smith and Jessica Smith; a brother, Lawrence Watkins (Sheila) of Gaffney; 3 grandchildren, Malayah Smith, Jalihya Smith, and Lisa Smith.

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 9th, 1:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Reverend Darrell Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Toledo Knuckles Littlejohn

Mrs. Toledo Knuckles Littlejohn, 90 of Gaffney, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 3, 2019. 

Widow of Leroy W. Littlejohn, she was born in Cherokee County, SC and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Regina Peeler Knuckles. 

She was a graduate of Claflin University and a retired educator.  Mrs. Littlejohn was a former teacher at Granard High School, Gaffney.

She was a member of Dunton United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the United Methodist Women.  She was a former Girl Scout Leader and former member of  Whitaker Chapter 127 Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three brothers, Herbert “Gene” Knuckles, Evon Knuckles, and Joe Dean Knuckles.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: a daughter, Joanita M. Littlejohn, of Douglasville, GA; one brother, Charles Knuckles (Cordelia), of Gaffney; three sisters, Mrs. Clynthree Oglesby, Mrs. Vera Williams, and Mrs. Lee Webster, sister-in-law Edith Knuckles, all of Gaffney; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., in Dunton United Methodist Church with The Reverend Calvin Smith officiating.  Entombment will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home of her sisters, Vera and Lee, 117 Gettys Drive.

Luether Pringle Knight

Luether Pringle Knight, 65, of 203 Curry Street, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.

Wife of James E. Knight, she was born in Newark, NJ and was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Luether Pringle.

She was employed as a taxi-cab dispatcher in Gaffney

Surviving are: her husband, James E. Knight, of the home; four sons, James Terrel Pringle, Oohmano Devin Pringle, William Cowan Pringle, and Rashan Lowe; a daughter, Tonisha Lowe; two sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Louis, and Willie Mae Varcus; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, Jan 5th at 12:00 pm., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Michael Williamson. Rev. Mary Jefferies, and Rev. Xavier Haney
