Blanche Proctor

BlancheProctorMrs. Blanche Knuckles Proctor, 84, of 588 Boiling Springs Road, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 19th, in the Peachtree Center.

Widow of Nathaniel Proctor, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late Samuel and Priscilla Mack Knuckles.

She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a retired employee of Gaffney Manufacturing.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Proctor was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Knuckles, Jr.

Surviving are: a son, Joe Nathaniel Proctor (Angela) of Columbus, GA; four daughters, Mary Hopper of St. Paul, Minnesota; Alberta (Eddie), Debra Houey (Howard), and Audrey Watkins (Curtis), all of Gaffney; two brothers, Cossie Knuckles (Johnnie Mae) and Mack Knuckles (Nancy), all of Gaffney; five sisters, Barbara Johnson of Flint, MI, Delia Ballard, Juanita Watkins (Joe), Dorothy Tate, Nelleree Hardy and Louise Littlejohn all of Gaffney; 12 grandchildren, including Clarinda Robinson (Darrell) of St. Paul MN and Everett Hopper of Gaffney, raised in the home; 23 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one aunt, Nina Garrett of Salisbury, NC; sisters-in-law, Pernice Knuckles, Lucy Proctor, of Gaffney, Lucille McNeal of PA; and a brother-in-law, Eddie Proctor (Vivian) of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, 1:00 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She will lie in state in the church Thursday from 12:00 noon until the hour of services.

Patricia Mae Burroughs

Patricia-BurroughsPatricia Mae Burroughs, 79, of Gaffney, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, in Brookview HealthCare Center.

Widow of Leon P. Burroughs Sr., she was born in Washington, D.C., and was the daughter of the late Roland and Louise Taylor Richard.

She was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness 43 years ago in Washington. After relocating to South Carolina 24 years ago, she became an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gaffney.

Surviving are a son, Leon Burroughs Jr. (Vonica) of New Carrollton, M.D.; three daughters, Mary Phifer of Greenville, Cynthia Morris and Arlene Danielle Sanders (James) of Gaffney; a sister, Shirley Willis of Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Sunday, April 5, at 5 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Bobby Jefferies officiating.

The family is at the home of Arlene and James Sanders, 100 Redwood Circle.

Frederick S. Watkins, Sr.

Watkins Photo2CHESNEE – Frederick S. Watkins Sr., 84, of 400 Walker Ave., Apt. 6411, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Widower of Mary Jane Louise Sarratt Watkins, he was born in Cherokee County and was the son of the late S. Phillips and the late Willie Mae Curtis Watkins. He was a member of Greater Buck Shoals Ministries and a retired employee of Cone Mills.

Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by two children, Sonny and Jeanette Watkins; five siblings, Jimmy, L.C., Dell, Vickie and “Toot” Watkins.

Surviving are five sons, Jimmy (Diane) Watkins of Jackson, Tenn., Joseph (Lorraine) Brannon of Spartanburg, Frederick Donnell Watkins Jr., Keith L. (Telisa) Watkins Sr., of Gaffney, Richard Lipscomb of Morganton, N.C.; two daughters, Ruth (Rev. L.J.) Valentine of Cowpens and Ruby Gail (Emerson) Hughes of Spartanburg; three sisters, Dorothy Dawkins, Sandra Phillips and Jean Phillips, all of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 24, at 3 p.m. at Greater Buck Shoals Ministries Church with the Rev. T.E. Mc- Dowell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He will lie in state from 2-3 p.m.
