Charles Bolin

Charles Lesley Bolin, 71, of 510 Thompson Street, Gaffney, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Brookview Healthcare Center.

He was born in Blacksburg, SC and was a son of the late Lesley Eugene Bolin and the late Eva Mae Johnson Bolin. 

Charles attended the public schools in Blacksburg as well as the area churches. He was a retired textile employee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Michelle Bolin, and two brothers, Dennis Bolin and Bobby Treadway.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a granddaughter, Loran Bolin; and a great-grandson, August Childress, both of Bessemer City, NC; three brothers, James Bolin and John Bolin, both of Blacksburg, and Kenneth Bolin, of Gaffney; two sisters, Mary Morris, of York, SC and Cathy Lynn, of Fort Mill, SC; other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, 3:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Timothy L. Hunter officiating.

Ronald Anthony Hollis, Jr.

Ronald Anthony Hollis, Jr., 36, of 957 Overbrook Drive, Gaffney, passed away on Tuesday,   December 12th, in Spartanburg Medical Center.

He was born in Cherokee County, SC, and was a son of Ronald Anthony Hollis, Sr. and Joyce Conley Hollis.

He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and an employee of BMW.  Ronald was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by: sisters, Rondellica Hollis Ford (Dwight), of Charlotte, NC, Jerica “Shirley” Hollis, of Gaffney, and Kalee Jefferies, of Spartanburg; grandmother, Margaret Tate Douglas, of Gaffney; aunts, Margaret Lipscomb (Woody), Dorothy Littlejohn, Parthene Jefferies (the late Howard), Carolyn Douglas, Sebrintha Douglas, Teresa Kirby (Frank), and Cassandra Rainey; all of Gaffney; uncles, James Hollis, Robert Hollis (Tequita) Nathan Hollis,  Frank Douglas (Cathy), Robert Douglas (Tina), all of Gaffney, Terry Brannon (Judy), of Alabama; other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 from ?:00 to 6:00 p.m.,in the Gilmore Mortuary.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 19th, 1:00 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with The Reverend Dr. Michael A. Bridges, officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Elise H. Byrd

Elise Hughes Byrd, 74, of 306 Snow Street, Greer, SC, passed away Monday, December 11th, in Spartanburg Medical Center. 

She was born in Union County, SC, and was a daughter of the late Lawrence Sr., and the late Ruth Dawkins Hughes. 

Elise was a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC.  She was a retiree of Cone Mills and was employed as a former custodian at Granard Junior High School.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: four sons, John Kennedy Byrd (Regina), of Simpsonville, Theodore Byrd, Jr., of Cowpens, SC, Chase Robinson (Lauren), of Jonesville, SC, and Brandon Robinson (Stacy), of Gaffney; siblings, Emison Hughes (Ruby Gail),  Mary Goode, Eva Jean Hughes, of Spartanburg; Russell Hughes (Lillie), of Gaffney; a special sister, Priscilla Smith, of Gaffney; grandchildren, Timothy Byrd, of Gaffney, Relina Parker (Wayne), of Simpsonville, Destiny Williams (Michael), of Columbia, Landon and Oliver Robinson, both of Jonesville, SC, Easton Jamison, Laythan and Abigail Robinson, of Gaffney; great-grandchildren, Israel and Lauren Parker, of Simpsonville; other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Gilmore Mortuary.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 16th, 1:00 p.m., in Piney Grove Baptist Church, Cowpens, SC, with The Reverend Dennis Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the home of her sister, Mary Goode, 1560 White Oak Street, Spartanburg, SC.
