Ella Mae Camp

Ella Mae “Worm” Camp, age 59 of 409 East Jr. High Road Apt-92, in Gaffney, passed away Tuesday, August 29th, in her home.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ricky Davis and Rev. Kerwin Wray. The family is receiving friends at the home.


James Coleman

James Earl Coleman, Sr., 92, of 388 Tinsley Road, Pacolet, SC, passed away Saturday, August 19th, in Spartanburg Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC.

He was born in Jonesville, SC and was a son of the late Andrew and Willie Smith Coleman.

“Buck,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a member of Foster’s Chapel Baptist Church in Jonesville. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired employee of National Rehabilitation Hospital, Alexandria, VA.

He was first married to Shirley Walker, after her death, he later married Carolyn Medley.

In addition to his parents and spouses, he was also preceded in death by: a son, James Coleman, Jr.; siblings, Andrew, Jr., William, Cleophy, and Lindsay Coleman, Hazel R.C. Vannoy and Larnice C. Smith.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Andrew Fitzgerald Coleman, of Washington, D.C.; daughters, Mamie Means (Arthur), of the home; Doris Cheatham, of Concord, NC, Margaret “Toni” Ross, of Clinton, MD, Wanda Black Jones, of Spartanburg, SC; a step-daughter, Mary Sellman, of Washington, D.C.; god-daughter, Thelia Jones; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends, including special friends, Elizabeth Smith, Julia Dehart, Krista Evans, Flora McRae, Orlando and Hattie Durham.

A Graveside Service, with Military Rites, will be held Wednesday, August 23rd, 11:00 a.m.., in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, Pacolet, SC, with Brother Harold Littlejohn officiating.

Evangelist Frances Smith Wilkie

Evangelist Frances Smith Wilkie, 74, of 1434 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, passed away Friday, August 18th, in the Peachtree Centre.

She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of the late Whitworth and Ola Mae Roberts Smith.

Frances was a 1967 graduate of Granard High School and a former employee of Hardees Bojangles.  She was a member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Leola Manning, Martha Dawkins, Rev. Nettie McCluney Camp, Thomas, John, and Horace Smith.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Darren L. Wilkie, of Pickens, SC; two daughters, Rhonda M Cleveland (Billy, “BC”), and Hanson Means, of Spartanburg; sisters, Rev. Modestine Manning and Mae Thomas; brothers, Eddie Smith (Wanda), and Willie Ellis; grandchildren, Damaris Gaffney, Frantasia Mullins, and Jeff Young, Jr.; great grandchildren, Elijah Antonio and Da’Moni Gaffney; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; aunts; uncles; and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 25th, 2:00 p.m., in Limestone Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Golden officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
