Annie Ruth Wilkins Lipscomb

A beautiful and dear life came to a close early in the morning on February 5, 2023, in Inman Healthcare Nursing Home, in Inman, SC when Annie Ruth Wilkins Lipscomb answered the Master’s call to enter eternal rest. Her battle with medical issues and declining health in recent years showed her courage and determination in facing life’s challenges.

Annie was born on April 28, 1946 to the late Horace Wilkins and his wife, the late Grace Wilkins in Gaffney, SC where she grew up and attended public school. Annie was joined in holy matrimony to Clyde E. Lipscomb and to this blessed union four children were born.

She faced life with dedication and was confident in her ability to accomplish and succeed. While not completing high school traditionally, her perseverance led her to proudly receive a GED in 1980. Annie worked at Magnolia Finishing Plant for 40 years as a laboratory technician. She loved God and her family and enjoyed football and traveling. Her favorite teams were the Gaffney High School Indians and the Dallas Cowboys.

Annie was converted at an early age and joined Bethel Baptist Church. After marriage, she joined her husband by moving her membership to Philadelphia Baptist Church where she raised her family and was a faithful devoted church worker and leader. Over the years, she actively and willingly participated in the Congregation’s Ministry including, Sunday school and YWA. For many years, she served as president of the Voices of Philly (formerly the Philadelphia Mixed Choir) and was the long term chairperson of the Deaconess Ministry.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Angela Brown; two brothers, Horace Wilkins, Jr., and Clarence Lee Wilkins; and a granddaughter, Ashley Jefferies; and a brother-in-law, Roland Hardy.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her loving husband, Clyde Lipscomb, of the home; a daughter, Andrea Lipscomb, of Gaffney; two sons, Kenneth Lipscomb, of the home, and Donald (Catina) Lipscomb, of Gaffney; four sisters, Dorothy Hardy, Nina Wilkins (a very special sister whom Annie mentored and cared for), Betty Wilkins, Cheryl Mayberry (Bruce), all of Gaffney; two brothers, Johnny Wilkins, of Shelby, NC and James Wilkins, of Gaffney; sisters-in-law, Joyce Whittaker, Linda Smith, Ann Lipscomb, Diana Haywood, Judy Dawkins, and Dora Smith; brothers-in-law, David, John, and Armond Goudelock;

Annie deeply loved, nurtured and took pride in her nine grandchildren; Brandon Brown, Timothy Smith, Anthony Brown (Trina), Antonio, Anthony, Sherod, Kenard, Donisha, and Breanna Lipscomb, and Kenshell Foote; and shared a special bond with her great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered by a host of family members, friends, extened family and caregivers.

Public viewing will be held Friday from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m.


A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., in Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Danny Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family is receiving friends at the home of Donnie and Catina Lipscomb, 161 Ellis Ferry Road, Gaffney.

Imogene Wilson Smith

Imogene Wilson Smith, 67, of F-23 Granard Courts, W. Rutledge Ave, Gaffney, passed away Friday, January 27th, in her home.

She was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late D.J. Bonner and Tessie Ruth Wilson Bonner. 

She was a former member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a former employee of Limestone Mills.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith; her parents; and four siblings, Lonnell and John Frank Wilson, Eddie Huskey, and Robertha Leach. 

She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, William Wilson (Angel) and Victor Smith, all of Gaffney; a daughter, Emma Wilson, of Gaffney; a brother, Clyde Wilson (Arienne), of Richmond, VA; a sister, Rosa Byers (James), of Gaffney; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Johnathan Dawkins and Rev. C.A. Wallace. 

The family is at the home of William and Angel Wilson, 821 N. Granard St., Gaffney.




Ms. Ingrid Pearl Littlejohn

Ms. Ingrid Pearl Littlejohn of Richmond Virginia was called home on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born on June 13, 1968, in New York, NY to Jimmie Lee Littlejohn and Carolyn A. Littlejohn.

Ingrid accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.

Ingrid was a graduate of the Prestigious Phillappa Schuyler School in Brooklyn, NY and Graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Queens, NY where she participated in the Gifted Program. She continued her education and attended SUNY in Binghamton, NY.

Ingrid became inspired to become a nurse as she enrolled into the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Nursing Program in Richmond, VA., while becoming an EMT of the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad in Richmond, VA.

Upon completion of the nursing program, Ingrid was employed by Ben Secours, St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, VA., where she served as an LPN for 15 years. She continued to pursue and further her education by becoming a registered nurse and her talents were continuously utilized at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She received the prestigious DAISY Award during her tenure at St. Mary’s Hospital which recognizes outstanding clinical skills in nursing.

Ingrid’s passion for nursing allowed her to become an avid member of the Chi Eta Phi registered nursing sorority.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her son, Braeden Lee Weddell; her loving parents, Jimmie and Carolyn Littlejohn; a sister, Mrs. Sonya Fells; a brother in-law, Larry Fells, a niece, Mrs. Tyler Duford, a nephew, Jordan Fells; an uncle, Rev. Tony Makupson; an aunt; Ms. Bobby Gail Smith; a great aunt, Mrs. Ardean Henry; a cousin, Mrs. Ruby C. Byers; a loving and dedicated friend of the family and girlfriend of Braeden, Autumn Lopez; cousins and many friends.


A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, at 3:0p.m., in Suck Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Makeupson officiating.
