James Earl Coleman, Sr., 92, of 388 Tinsley Road, Pacolet, SC, passed away Saturday, August 19th, in Spartanburg Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC.

He was born in Jonesville, SC and was a son of the late Andrew and Willie Smith Coleman.

“Buck,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a member of Foster’s Chapel Baptist Church in Jonesville. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired employee of National Rehabilitation Hospital, Alexandria, VA.

He was first married to Shirley Walker, after her death, he later married Carolyn Medley.

In addition to his parents and spouses, he was also preceded in death by: a son, James Coleman, Jr.; siblings, Andrew, Jr., William, Cleophy, and Lindsay Coleman, Hazel R.C. Vannoy and Larnice C. Smith.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Andrew Fitzgerald Coleman, of Washington, D.C.; daughters, Mamie Means (Arthur), of the home; Doris Cheatham, of Concord, NC, Margaret “Toni” Ross, of Clinton, MD, Wanda Black Jones, of Spartanburg, SC; a step-daughter, Mary Sellman, of Washington, D.C.; god-daughter, Thelia Jones; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends, including special friends, Elizabeth Smith, Julia Dehart, Krista Evans, Flora McRae, Orlando and Hattie Durham.

A Graveside Service, with Military Rites, will be held Wednesday, August 23rd, 11:00 a.m.., in Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery, Pacolet, SC, with Brother Harold Littlejohn officiating.
