Lillian Wood Manning

Lillian Wood Manning, age 89, of 118 Connecticut Avenue, Gaffney, passed away Sunday, January 9th, in her home.

Widow of Clinton E. Manning, Sr., she was born in Cherokee County to Baxter and Vinnie Peeler Wood.

Lillian was a graduate of Granard High School, “Class of 1950.” She was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church where she served as a member of the choir, Deaconess Board, and Hospitality Committee.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Una S. Manning; siblings, Herman Wood, B.W. Wood, Yvonne Jefferies, Rosia Lee Smith, William Wood, Woodrow Littlejohn, Eugene Wood, Edna Mae Hollis, and Tinnie Wood.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Clinton E. Manning, Jr, of Gaffney; a daughter, Emericus S. Manning, of Fredericksburg, VA; a host of other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Monday from 3- 6:00 p.m. in the Gilmore Mortuary. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, January 18th, 12:00 noon, in Mikes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Rev. Courtney Mills and The Rev. Dr. Kerwin Wray.
