Linda Edwards Duncan

Linda Edwards Duncan, 63, of Gaffney, S.C., passed away surrounded by loved ones at Providence Hospital in Columbia, S.C., on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, following a brief illness.

Beloved wife of Rev. William L. Duncan, she was born in Cherokee County and was the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Sarah Oglesby Edwards. She was a member of Allen Temple CME Church.

She graduated from Gaffney High School and SC State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees.

Mrs. Duncan was a retired elementary teacher for Cherokee County School District One where she worked for 35 years.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 17, at 1 p.m. in Concord Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in The Gilmore Mortuary on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 6 p.m-7 p.m.

  1. Linda was a beautiful servant of God who was always willing to share her talents and resources. Her face always radiated and glowed with beautiful smiles. She will certainly be missed by friends and members of Fairview C.M.E. Church. We thank God that she so positively and profoundly impacted our church.   2. Prayers for Linda’s family. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by so many. She meant much to me as a friend and a fellow teacher at Goucher School. I admired so much about Linda, especially her love of God, her family and her school family.

  3. Mrs. Duncan taught me and my daughter I will always remember her for her kind heart and sweet manner. She was one of the best and I will always cherish the memories I have with her. She always made you feel special and loved.

  6. Prayers to her family so very sorry for your loss of such a sweet lady. She was one of the best teachers that Cherokee county and Goucher school ever had. She had a contagious smile that would light up a room. She will be dearly missed.

  12. Such a beautiful lady inside and out. I worked at Goucher for five years. Her room was across from the class I worked in. I loved talking to Linda and being around her. What a Godly woman she was. Saw her one day when I was out walking. She told me about her wonderful husband. You could tell how happy she was. This beautiful lady will be missed by so many people. Prayers for all of her family.
