Christeen Tate, 74, of The Peachtree Centre, Gaffney, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, in Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
She was born in York County, SC and was a daughter of the late Willie and Lula Parker Tate.
Christeen was a graduate of Jefferson High School in York, SC. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Tate.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Christopher Tate (Mary), of Gaffney; three brothers, Bobby Joe Tate, of Gaffney, Willie Edward of Dade City, FL, and Dennis Tate of Fountain Inn, SC; six sisters, Ida T. Haywood, of Goose Creek, SC, Mary T. Gibbs, Marie T. Jefferies, both of Gaffney, Debra T. Dawkins, of Spartanburg, Marietta Schenck (Ray), Angela Tate, both of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Asja, Alea, and Alexis Tate, all of Gaffney; two great grandchildren, Amir Jefferies and Aniya Brooks McCluney, both of Gaffney; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 14th, 1:00 p.m., in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with The Reverend Darrell Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Master Chief Thomas Clarence Corry
Master Chief Thomas Clarence Corry, U.S. Navy (Retired), age 79, of Oxford, MD, passed away Monday, May 22nd, in MD.
He was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a son of the late Mozelle Hill Corry Tate and the late Isaac Corry.
Thomas was a 1962 graduate of Granard High School. Early in life, he joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gaffney. After making his home in Maryland, he became a member of New Macedo-nia Baptist Church. He was also active in Young and Motivated Ministries, Inc. of Washington D.C.
Thomas joined the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Master Chief. After retirement, he became an ROTC teacher in Maryland.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Harper Corry; a son, Anthony Corry; and a brother, William Corry.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: a daughter, Keesha Speight, of Temple Hills, MD; a son, Lamar Corry (Sylvia), of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Julia Hare, of Charlotte, and Betty Armour, of Atlanta, GA; several grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Corry, of Gaffney, Nadine Hailu and Straucey Gillison (William), of Washington, DC; other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 10th, in New Macedonia Baptist Church, 415 Ala-bama Ave., S.E., Washington, D.C. Military Honors and Interment will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Ronald Taylor, II Funeral Home in Washington, D.C. is serving the family.

Prophetess Karen Lipscomb Tate
Prophetess Karen Lipscomb Tate, 59, of 109 W. O’Neal Street, Gaffney, SC, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Regional Healthcare Hospice, Spartanburg, SC.
She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of William Johnson and the late Nancy Lucille Lipscomb Tate.
She was a 1982 graduate of Gaffney High School. She received a BS Degree in Computer Science from Gardner Webb University.
Karen was ordained as a minister in 1995. She was a member of New Jerusalem Rebirth and Restoration Ministries, Shelby, NC.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: her father, William Johnson, of the home; former husband, Furman Tate, of Gaffney; a brother, Jimmy Lipscomb (Lori), of Gaffney godchildren, Wesley Terrill, of Savannah, Ga; Webster Terrill, of Gaffney, Jasmine Tate, of Winter Haven, FL, and Travis “T.J.” Williams, of Greensboro, NC; an uncle, John Foster, of Gaffney; a best friend/sister, Priscilla W. Terrill, of Gaffney; other relatives and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., in New Mount Zion Baptist Church with The Reverend Bobby Rodgers and Bishop Freddie Marshall. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
