Mrs. Tecora Norris Watts, 88, of 335 Martin Hills Rd, Blacksburg, passed away Sunday, June 9th, in Spartanburg Medical Center.
Widow of Wilbert Watts, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late John Paul Norris, Sr. and the late Olivia Harrison Norris Baker.
She was a 1953 Graduate of Granard High School. Tecora was a faithful and dedicated member of Concord Baptist Church, where she served as: head of the Culinary Committee; Usher, Sunday School Teacher, First Vice President of the Sr. Missionaries of the Thicketty Mountain Women’s Convention; Senior Choir Member; and Junior Missionary Advisor. For several years, she was employed as a Fashion 220 Consultant.
Tecora was also predeceased by a son, Stanley Watts, (Peggy, of Blacksburg); and siblings, James Norris, (Pamela, of Ohio), Thomas Norris, Willie Wells, Annie Steward, Virginia Reese (Clifford, of Washington, DC), and Doris Harris.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Gary Watts and Jonathan Watts, both of the home; daughter, Kathy Thomas (Dana), of Duluth, GA; goddaughter, Annette Smith (Kelvin), of Gaffney; a brother, John Paul Norris, Jr., (Earnestine), of Gaffney; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 15th, 10:00 a.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
