Dennis Jefferies

Dennis JefferiesDennis Jefferies entered eternal rest on Monday, February 1, 2016, in Magnolia Manor, Inman, SC.

He was born in Gaffney and was a son of S.J. Peeler and the late Ola Mae Jefferies Dawkins. Dennis was raised in by his great-grandparents, Morris and Marie Jefferies.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Mae Jefferies Dawkins; grandparents, Lillie Mae Brown, and great grandparents, Morris and Marie Jefferies; two uncles Converse and Rayford Peeler.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: a daughter, Denise Tate; father, S.J. Peeler; two sisters, Shirley Jefferies and Shelia Marie Smith; step-father, William Dawkins; step-mother, Darlene Peeler; fourteen step-siblings, including Cheryl Allen and Frederick Allen (Tressa); aunts, Betty Smith, Minnie Leach, Essie Mae Wilkins Robert), Earnestine Rainey, Louise Edwards, Sally Fenn (James), Elizabeth Davis (Nelson) and Amozene Wood; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 6th at 1 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Darrell W. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

Clareatha Sarratt Green

christmas praying handsClareatha “Lady” Sarratt Green entered eternal rest on December 8, 2015. Widow of Thomas Green, she was born in Cleveland County, NC and was a daughter of the late J.D. and Maggie Webb Sarratt.

Clareatha was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church and a former employee of Limestone Mills.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C and James Sarratt.

Surviving are: step-sons, Thomas Lamar Hardy and Jeffrey Todd Shippy; step-daughter, Kalisha Shippy; two sisters, Fannie Bell Valentine (Leon) of Gaffney and Barbara Watts (Zoar); a step-grandchild, Quayne Isaiah Bruster; nephews, Rev. James Sarratt, Jr., James Douglas, Zoar Lee Watts, Jr., Maurice Davis, Jimmy Davis, Tyson Sarratt, Marvin Gaye Davis Drayton Smith, Kendrick Smith, Justice Davis, Everson Davis, and Jamar Davis; nieces, Betty Ann Sarratt, Charlene Hoyle, Wanda Renee Watts, Bobbi Jo Watts, Kimberly Danielle Hunt, Lacey Davis, Marsay Davis; two special neighbors, Jan and D.J. Gaffney; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m., in Mike’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C.A. Wallace, eulogist, and Rev. Courtney Mills, presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Darleen Macomson Nesbitt

23p1.preview-3Mrs. Darleen Macomson Nesbitt, 78, of Spartanburg, entered eternal rest Dec. 1, in Magnolia Manor, Inman, SC .

Widow of Arthur Lee Nesbitt, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late James “Bo” Macomson and Priscilla Jefferies Macomson.

She was a member of Foster Grove Baptist Church in Chesnee and a retired employee of Holiday Inn.

Surviving are: a daughter, Peggy Cooper of Una, SC; 3 sons, James Nesbitt (Deborah) and Michael Nesbitt, both of Inman, SC, Harry Nesbitt of Una; 2 sisters, Euty Lee Macomson Gentry of Cowpens, Ardean Henry of Inman, SC; 6 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, 2:30 p.m., in Foster Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Horace Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of Peggy Cooper, 222 Frances Horne Dr., Una.
