John Johnson

john JohnsonCOWPENS – John Carl Johnson, 73, of 113 Dawkins St., entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Magnolia Manor in Spartanburg.

Husband of June Adams Johnson, he was born in Cowpens and was a son of the late Fraygious and Garrie Mayes Johnson. He was a Baptist and a retired employee of Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, N.Y.

John was preceded in death by a son, Eric Johnson; and six brothers, Colie, Ervin, Clarence, Roger, Lester and Leroy Johnson.

Surviving are his wife, June Johnson of the home; two sons, Troy Adams Sr. of Snellville, Ga., and John Johnson Jr. of Fairfield, Pa.; three daughters, Melanie Nanchez, Lisa Nanches of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Paige Adams of Queens, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Troy Adams Jr., Tiara Nanchez, Trinity Nanchez and Hope Johnson; a greatgrandchild, Takaria Adams; a brother, James Johnson of Upper Marlboro, Md.; three sisters, Frances Corbett of Atlantic City, N.J., Mary Landrum of Charleston and Barbara McNair of Pleasantville, N.J.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Timothy L. Hunter officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lizzie Bridges.

Earnestine Linder Baker

EarnestineBakerEarnestine Linder Baker, 79, of 53 Wabash Drive, Ellenwood, Ga,. entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, in Georgia.

Wife of Ernest Baker, she was born in Gaffney and was the daughter of the late Robert Jeter and Ruth Linder Littlejohn. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Vernon Choir.

Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Jeter; a brother, Ben Linder; and a grandchild, La-Quata Houey.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest Baker of the home; a son, Johnny Littlejohn (Rosheeda A.) of Gaffney; five daughters, Dorothy Hull (Danny) of Gaffney, Aretha Frieson (Charles) of Roebuck, Rene Newson (Darryl) of Jonesboro, Ga., Sharon Baker and Ardeana Byars (Roderick) of Ellenwood, Ga.; two brothers, Robert Jeter, Jr. (Lynn) of Greenville and Wilbert Linder (Ruby) of Gaffney; three sisters, Annie Jeter of Charlotte, Sheila McElhaney (Ricky) of Belmont, and Jackie Jeter of Durham; a sister, Inez Littlejohn (Robert) of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren; 27 greatgrandchildren; eight greatgreat grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 6, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. C. A. Wallace officiating and the Rev. Phillip Buckson delivering the eulogy. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She will lie instate from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.

The family is at the home of Danny and Dorothy Hull, 114 Michigan Ave., Gaffney.

Adrian Michael Walker

Adrian-WalkerAdrian Michael Walker, 42, of 302 Annette St., entered eternal rest on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center .

Husband of Shontaye Rodgers Walker, he was born in Union County and was the son of Joyce Glenn Walker of Union and the late Thomas Walker. Adrain was a graduate of Union County High School, an employee of Reliant Inventory Corp and a member of New Hope Christian Church in Spartanburg, where he served with the Gospel Choir and Men’s Missionary.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Bradley Morgan Jr. of Rock Hill, Nicolas Walker and Messiah Rodgers, both of the home; two daughters, Khierra Mayes of the home and Brianna Gilliam of Spartanburg; a brother, Thomas Walker Jr. of York; and a sister, Lekeshia Walker of Union.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Christian Church with the Rev. Kirkland Smith officiating. Interment will follow.
