Odell Good

Odell Good, 78, of 612 Broad Street, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017, in his home.

Husband of Mrs. Crystal Corry Good of the home, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Bennie Odell Good and Mrs. Eloise Mitchem Good.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Good, and a sister, Margaret Good Bradley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons, Barry Good (Deborah) of Columbia, S.C. and Ashton Corry of Gaffney; four daughters, Cassandra Sherry Good and Andrea Good of Columbia, Wanda Renee Goodwin (Shawn) of Charlotte, N.C., and Ashley Corry of the home; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, 2 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Doris W. Landrum officiating. Interment will be Monday, February 13, 11 a.m., in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery, Anderson, S.C.

Mr. Good may be viewed in The Gilmore Mortuary Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

James Arthur “Big Time” Finley

James Arthur “Big Time” Finley, 70, of 118 Estelle Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in Spartanburg Hospital Restorative Care.

He was born in Greenville County and was a son of the late Jessie Boyd Finley and the late Evelyn Starks Finley.

Early in life, James joined Goldenview Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, SC. After moving to Gaffney, he became a member of Concord Baptist Church and Concord All Male Chorus. He was also a member of the New Durbin All Male Chorus and a retired employee of Celanese Fiber.

Surviving: Annie Lorene Houey, his companion of twenty plus years; a son, Khristopher Goodjoin of Gray Court; a daughter, Ebony Wilson of Blacksburg; step-son, Tirish Houey (Dorie) of Gaffney; godson, Fred Wilson of Gaffney; four brothers, William Finley (Louise) of Highpoint, NC, Jerry Finley (Catherine) of Gray Court, Julius Finley (Diane) of Simpsonville, SC, Charles Finley (Decima) of Fort Mitchell, AL; two sisters, Mary Turner (James) of Greenville, and Odessie Finley of Fountain Inn; a niece reared in the home, E. Sandra Clowney of Augusta, GA; aunt, May Helen Clark of Plainfield, NJ; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 special nieces and 2 special nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in Goldenview Baptist Church, Fountain Inn, SC. Funeral Services will be Monday, January 30th at 2 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He will be in state in Concord Baptist Church Monday at 1 p.m.

Clara Posey Davis

Clara Posey Davis, 91, of Cincinnati, Ohio transitioned from earth to eternity on Thursday, January 5, 2017, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late Ebb and Bessie Linder Davis. Clara was a former member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gaffney. After moving to Cincinnati, Clara joined Inspirational Baptist Church.

Clara was first married to Robert Posey. After his death, she later married Lorenso Davis who also preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, George Davis; three sisters, Rebecca Davis, Ezera Thompson, and Alice Davis.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: five sisters, Mary Fernanders, Amogene Byers, Parnice Jefferies, Burdie A. Garnett, and Christine Reaves; one brother, Louis M.C. Davis; brothers-in-law, Henry Reaves, James L. Jefferies, Sam Garnett, and James Thompson; one aunt, Hannah Linder; a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 14, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park with Rev. C.A. Wallace officiating.
