Mrs. Vernell Palmer Robinson of 100 Huntington Square, passed away Thursday, January 21st, in Pacifica Skyland Place, Spartanburg, SC.
Widow of Eldred Robinson, Sr., she was born in Cherokee County, July 23, 1939 to Babylon Sr. and Malinda Lou Wilkins Palmer.
Vernell was a retired custodian of the Spartanburg High School District.
The family is at 109 Riverbank Drive and request that visits to the home be made between the hours of 1:00 and 6:00 p.m.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by eight brothers, Clarence, Tom, Bo June, Jesse, Billy Dean, Johnny, Jimmy and Dennis Palmer; a sister, Elmer Cumberlander.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: two sons, Eldred Robinson, Jr. and Clarence Lee Robinson, both of Charlotte; two daughters, Jennifer Copeland (Anthony) and Nellie Ree Robinson, both of Gaffney; four sisters, Shirley Crosby, of Shelby, Louise Thomas, of Spartanburg, Helen Smith, of Washington, DC, and Lilliam Smith, of Gaffney; 7 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Mark Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Union SC, with Rev. Lewis Davis officiating.

Nancy Lucille Lipscomb
Nancy Lucille Lipscomb was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina on July 20, 1937, to Jimmy and Emzonner Turner Lipscomb.
She passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 in her home, 105 Carver Street, Gaffney, South Carolina.
She was a faithful member of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Senior Choir, Senior Missionary, and Kitchen Committee. Lucille was a retiree of Hamrick Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Allie Serena Lipscomb; sisters, Allie Mae Vann, Irene Foster, and Jessie Mae Brown. Lucille was the second of four daughters and was the last living sibling of “Zonnie’s Girls.
She leaves to cherish precious memories: a son, Deacon Jimmy Lipscomb (Lori); a daughter, Prophetess Karen L. Tate; special and enduring life-long companion of 58 years, Deacon Willie Johnson; brother-in-law, Deacon John H. Foster; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Willie Lipscomb; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be held Tuesday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, 12:00 noon, in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Michael Golden officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.
A maximum of 70 people will be allowed to attend the service in the chapel. The family respectfully request that visits to the home be between the hours of 4-6 p.m. and limited to 10 minutes.
Ms. Annie Pearl Dowdle (Penny) Smith
Ms. Annie Pearl Dowdle (Penny) Smith, 79, of 602 W. Buford St., passed away Sunday, January 17th, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Widowed to Lawrence Smith, she was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina, October, 1, 1941 to Thomas Glenn Dowdle and Hallean Odessa Smith Dowdle.
Penny was a member at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church then later attended New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was employed as a Cook for Normans Truck Stop.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Andre Smith; two brothers, Horace Wilkins and Carl Dowdle; three sisters, Annette Byers, Lelia Jefferies, and Teresa Dowdle.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Ricky Brannon, of Pelzer, SC; three godsons, Michael Watkins and James McDowell both of the home, Quan Allen, of Gaffney; two goddaughters, Ebony Shae Littlejohn and Deanna Allen, both of Gaffney; three sisters; Wanda Littlejohn, of Chesnee, Corneal Scott, of Fountain Inn, and Sandra Norris (Napoleon), of Gaffney; a grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be Friday from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be Saturday, 12:00 noon in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel.
