Johnny Dean Choice

johnny-choiceJohnny Dean Choice was born in Gaffney, S.C. on January 20, 1963 to Johnny Lee “Snake” Choice and Fair Lee Tate Choice. He entered eternal rest on Friday, November 4, 2016, in Mary Black Hospital-Spartanburg, SC.

Dean was educated in the public schools of Cherokee County, SC and was a graduate of Cherokee High School. He attended Philadelphia Baptist Church and was a former employee of Daddy Joe’s Beach House and Bar-be-cue. Dean contributed much to the happiness, love, joy, and inspiration of his family and those who were around him.

Dean was preceded in death by his mother, a brother, Claude Franklin Choice, and his grandparents, Sylvester and Mary Easter Tate and Montie and Willie Choice.

He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: three sisters, Judy A. Choice, Gwendolyn M. Choice, and Shannon D. Russell; nieces, LaCresha T. Choice, Deonica N. Choice, and Abrisha Kelly; nephews, Bruce, Keon, and Brandon M. Choice; aunts, Sadie Tate, Annie P. Lattimore, Carolyn Tate Jarvis (Grover), and Letha M. Choice; great-aunt, Katie M. Jones; uncles; Lloyd W. Tate (Nita), Aaron L. Tate, Sr. (Angela), Odesta Tate (Elaine), Zeb Tate, and Eddie D. Tate; two cousins reared in the home with him, Keshi and Jaushia Tate; a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12th at 2pm, in Philadelphia Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in Gaffney Memorial Park.

He will be in state in the church Saturday at 1 pm.

Mrs. Viola Dawkins Burris

viola-dawkinsMrs. Viola Dawkins Burris, 92, entered eternal rest Thursday, Nov. 3, in Brookview Healthcare Center.

Widow of Richard Burris, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late Pritchard and Mariah Hoey Dawkins.

She was a member and deaconess of Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Burris was a retired employee of Cherokee County School District Food Services.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Elam of Wilmington, Del. and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, 1 p.m., in Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. James Sanders, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

She will be in state in the church Friday at 12 noon.

The family is at the home of Willie and Mae Frances Sarratt, 564 Northgate Road.

Clarence Arnold “Bo” Prysock

clarence prysockClarence Arnold “Bo” Prysock, 47, of 116 Bates Road, passed away Monday, October 31, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Husband of Charlene Hamilton Prysock, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late Abraham Prysock and Maggie Studyvance Prysock.

He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church, a former employee of Walmart Distribution Company, and owner of Prysock Chauffer Service and Club Honey. He was a member Victor Masonic Lodge 141 of Chesnee.

Surviving are: three daughters, Shameka Foster of Gaffney, Terrica Prysock of Chesnee, and Tyvonne Watkins of Gaffney; two sons, Savon Dukes and Michael McKinney, both of Gaffney; sisters, Sherry Reid of Gaffney, Erica Miller and Nickie Mosley, both of Chesnee, Pernice Studyvance (John H. Lightening) and Carrie Valentine of Gaffney; a brother, Rubin Littlejohn of Gaffney; maternal grandmother, Minnie Littlejohn of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Imari Boyd, Mariah Leach, Makayla Upshaw, Tylan Kirby, Tamya Kirby, Ayden Dukes, MaLiyah McKinney; mother-in-law and father-in–law, Wade and Sharon Hamilton of Gaffney; a host of God Children; 2 aunts, Julie Studyvance and Helen Lee Jones (Willie); 2 uncles, Willie Littlejohn of Gaffney and Donnie Littlejohn, of North Carolina.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 3 p.m., in Suck Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Macomson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He will be in state in the church Saturday at 2 p.m.

The family is at the home of his sister, Erica Miller, 714 Fairfield Street, Chesnee.
