Larry Lexus Carter

Larry-CarterLarry Lexus Carter, 45, of Jonesville, SC, entered eternal rest on May 13th in Charleston, SC.

He was born in East Orange, NJ and was a son of Lorenzo Carter of New Orleans, LA and the late Bessie Bellamy Carter.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Elbert Gaffney officiating.

In addition to his father, he is survived by: his wife, Kristina Segui Carter; four children, Jordan, Brooklyn, Cali and Jada Carter, all of Fairfax, VA; five brothers, Lorenzo Carter, Jr., Lawrence Carter, Artemes Bellamy, Timothy Conley, and Edward Conley; six sisters, Barbara Pettiford, Vickie Tyson, Ernestine Carter-Stewart, Darlene McKnight, Evelyn Lee and Lisa Carthee.

The family is at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Shirley Petty Carter.

Paul Joseph McDowell

Paul McDowellPaul Joseph McDowell, 84, of 511 Marion Ave., entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 6, 2015, at his home.

He was born in Spartanburg County and was a son of the late William and Frankie Gardner McDowell. He was first married to Collossia Robbs and after her death, he later was united in marriage to Vertie Dodd. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, a retired employee of Magnolia Finishing Company and owner of Sebrina Fashions.

He is survived by his wife, Vertie McDowell of the home; three sons, Kelvin Robbs of Duncan, James McKinney (Verdell) of Oxford, AL, and Rodney McDowell of Gaffney; seven daughters, Sebrina Dawkins of Spartanburg, Audrey Oglesby (Steven) of Gaffney, Jeanetta Jackson (Tony) of Gaffney, Lora Landrum (Avery) of Charlotte, Abie Duffy of Braselton, GA, Sarah Thompson (Earl) of Forest City, and Lisa Coates (Kenneth) of Lithia Springs, GA; a sister, Betty Vernon of Gaffney; 33 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 11, at 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Michael A. Bridges officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He will lie in state from 2-3 p.m.

Theresa Lockhart Lewis

Theresa LewisTheresa Lockhart Lewis, 60, of Charlotte, N.C., entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Levine & Dickson Hospice Home in Huntersville, N.C.

Widow of David Lewis, she was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of Lois Hopper Lockhart and Eugene Lockhart. She was a member of Perfecting Church in Mt. Holly, N.C.

Surviving are a daughter, Shonita Ponder (David) of Virginia Beach, Va.; her parents, Lois and Eugene Lockhart of Charlotte; a brother, Michael Lockhart of Shelby; two sisters, Jewel Hopkins and Bridget Lockhart, both of Charlotte; three grandchildren, David, Donté and Dasis Ponder of Virginia Beach; godsons, Dashawn Cunningham and Shemar Carr; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, at 3 p.m. at Divine True Holiness Church of God with Bishop Eddie Lockhart, Dr. Willie Fleming, Elder Bernard James, Elder Margaret Hames and Evangelist Ruby Askew officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She will lie in state in from 2-3 p.m.

The family is at the home of Jewel Hopkins, 11032 Carver Pond Road, Charlotte.
