One of God’s angels that was sent to us in human form named Irene Morgan of 1007 Liberty Road, Wilmington, Delaware was called to her heavenly throne on July 19, 2020 at 10:34 pm.
Daughter of the late Nathaniel and Arrie Morgan, she was born on August 24, 1924 in Cherokee County South Carolina. She was joined in holy matrimony to Edward Jennette who preceded her in death. Siblings that preceded her was: Lucille Smith and Henry Morgan.
At an early age she understood her mission while on earth was to love and nurture others. She attended and graduated from Florence Nightingale School of Nursing (1942). At that point she was able to carry out her mission and her love for children by becoming a baby nurse. She tended to newborn babies until she was in her early 80’s. When she was no longer able to go and tend to the newborns then the newborns that she had once taken care of would come and tend to her.
Because she was a Godsend there was no question about her love for the Master. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and when she relocated to New York, she became a member of Ephesus SDA Church. At Ephesus she actively served on the Deaconess Board for a few decades. She always wore a smile on her face but, when she talked about her love of God she would glow.
Irene was loved throughout her whole life and gave selflessly. She knew that her life on earth was temporary and she looked forward to her greatest reward of sitting at the feet of Jesus and just thanking Him for everything He allowed her to do while she was here.
Irene leaves to mourn three great nieces Sharon Annette and Ayana. Three great nephews: Steve, Johnnie and Dwayne. Eight great-great nieces and nephews. And a host of cousins and friends. She will be missed but never forgotten and her love will be felt by all forever.
Graveside Service will be Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 12:00 noon, in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
