Mary Elizabeth Long Black

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Long Black of 163 South Linda Street Cowpens SC, answered the masters call on December 7, 2021 at her residence.
Daughter of the late Ernest June Long and Mary Lee Armstrong Long. Mary was born December 25, 1967 in Gaffney SC. She was proceeded in death by her husband the late John Henry Black.
At an early age she accepted Christ and joined the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a songbird and loved to sing and encourage others. She was a longtime cook at Mr. Waffle in Cowpens and also a cashier at the LiL Cricket in Cowpens.
Mary loved her family and friends, she would light up any room she walked in with her smile. She was a source of inspiration, joy, encouragement, love and strength for her family and friends. The memories of Mary (Lib) will always be cherished in our hearts and the hearts of so many others.

Left to cherish with fond memories are: her mother, Mary Lee Armstrong Long; two sons, Min. Malcolm Long (Porchee) Sheldon Long (Serina), one daughter, Janis Black. two brothers, James (Rock) Thompson Mark Long (Brenda); two sisters, Min. Brenda Harris (Melvin) and Edna Long; four grandchildren, Jamarian, Addilyn, Malachi, and Brody; two nephews, Cody Long and Brian Durrah; four nieces, Ametra Durrah, Melody Long, Breanna Harris, and Jasmine Landrum; a host of other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 3:30 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with The Reverend Dr. C. Dennis Rector and The Reverend Darrell Smith.

Reba Darice Hoey

Reba Darice Hoey, 45, of Immokalee, Florida, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, in her home.

She was born in Cherokee County, SC and was a daughter of Robert Lee Hoey and Lorraine Smith Hoey. 

Reba attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Wittnesses.  She was Assistant Manager of Circle K Restaurant in Immokalee.

Reba was predeceased by a sister, Dana Hoey. She leaves to cherish loving memories: a son, Jaylan Hoey, of Gaffney; her mother, Lorraine, of Gaffney; father, Robert, of Anderson, SC; a brother, Quincy Davidson, of Gaffney; a sister, Sheba Jefferies, of Spartanburg; 3 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Brother Abraham Duenas and will be available via Zoom. The  Zoom I.D. is 616 947 0766  and the password is regional  (all in lowercase letters).  The family is at the home of her mother at 1110 Elmore Street.

Mrs. Frances Littlejohn

Mrs. Frances Williams Littlejohn, 94, of 1629 W. Buford Street, passed away Friday, December 3rd, in Gaffney.

Widow of William Littlejohn, she was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late Roger and Vera Rice Williams.

She was a member of Queens Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurel, MD. After movingback to Gaffney, she attended Concord Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Williams, and a nephew, Wayne Williams. She leaves to cherish loving memories: a sister, Mrs. Lottie Mayberry, of the home; a niece, Sharon Littlejohn, and nephew; Glenn Foster; sister-in-law, Annie Littlejohn; brother-in-law, Robert Littlejohn, both of Gaffney; other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary. 

 Funeral Service and interment will be held in Lanham, Maryland on Thursday, December 16th.
