Bobby Gene Smith, age 86, of 334 Prosperity Ave., Greenville, SC, was called from labor to reward on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Cherokee County and was a son of the late Kenon and Geneva Rice Smith.
Bobby was a graduate of Granard High School, a Baptist, and a former Appliance Serviceman at Duke Energy Company.
Some of the loves of his life were: spending time with his family, fishing, singing, restoring appliances, and watching his Dallas Cowboys Football Team.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: sons, Christopher ad Ricky Widman of Dorchester, MA, Darrell Bailey of Middletown , CT, Bobby Dickens of New London, CT, Bobby Smith, Jr., Johnny Smith and Douglas Morgan, all of Charlotte, NC, and Tylon Turner of Warner Robins, GA; daughters, Loretta King of the home, Mildred Jeffries of Charlotte, MC, Tiffany Turner of Warner Robins, GA and Ann Singletary of Torrinton, CT; 39 grandchildren; 96 great grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 5, 2021, in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel, Gaffney, with the Rev. Courtney Mills officiating.
Minister Walter Clenso Wilson (Buck Wheat)
Minister Walter Clenso Wilson age 61, formerly of Gaffney, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center
Husband of Minister Georgia Huitt Wilson, he was born in Cherokee County and was a son of the late William McKinley Wilson and Lucille Davis Wilson.
He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and furthered his education by obtaining an Associate Degree in Arts. He was a member of Green Bethel Baptist Church and a former employee of Brown’s Packing Company.
Affectionately called “Buck Wheat” by his family and many friends, Walter was well-known for his culinary skills and hearty laugh. He will truly be missed by many.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two siblings, John Kelly Wilson and David Earl Wilson.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Georgia; a brother, Charles Wilson; five step-children; god-son, Marquis Camp, Jr.; an aunt, Martha Love; an uncle, Thomas Davis (Corene); other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 28th, 2:00 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel, with Dr. Rayfield Hamrick, Jr., officiating.

Ollie Elizabeth Norris
Mrs. Ollie Elizabeth Norris, age 84, of 922 Stonecrest Lane, Gaffney, passed away Monday, August 16th, in her residence.
She was born in Cherokee County and was a daughter of the late James Allen and Geneva Callahan Norris.
Ollie was a graduate of Granard High School “Class of 1959” and attended college for 2 years. She was a retired employee of Limestone Mills and Hardees. She was a member of Limestone Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Hall, Mary Jane Boyd, Sam, Bobby Dean, Edward, Eugene, and James Norris; a special friend, Vivian Woodruff.
She leaves to cherish loving memories; a son, Earl Agnew (Dana), of Shelby, NC; a daughter, Leatrice Agnew, of Gaffney, SC; a sister, Rosetta Dawkins, of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers, William Norris (Ann), Norwalk, CT, and Jesse Norris (Mary), of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, 1:00 p.m, in Limestone Missionary Baptist Church with The Reverend Debra Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence, Wednesday from 1:00 p.m., to 5:00 p.m. Please wear a mask and follow all Covid Safety Guidelines.
