Deacon Orban Jefferies, Sr.

Orban Jefferies Sr. 85, of 205 Serene Drive entered eternal rest on December 29, 2017 in the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Rev. Mary Dawkins Jefferies and son of the late Ernest Dawkins and the late Carrie Jefferies.

Orban was a graduate of Granard High School and Allen University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of Indian Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir member.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, The Reverend Mary Dawkins Jefferies of the home; sons, Orban (Amanda) Jefferies, Jr., Scott (Pam) Jefferies and Steve “Jelly” Curtis, all of Gaffney, Larry (Renee) Jefferies of Spartanburg, Barry (Tonya) Jefferies of Lyman, and Sheldon Tate, Jr. of the home; daughters, Gtanar (Herman ) Wallace, Minister Mary (Minister Michael) Boozer, The Honorable Usha J. (Allie Jr.) Bridges, Tiffany (Cedric) Mayes, Jackie Sanders, and brother Thomas (Jean) Jefferies Of Jacksonville Fl.,Sister Elizabeth Jefferies, Mother-in-law Marie Dawkins both of Gaffney, and a special grandson Dylan McKey, 37 grandchildren and 52 great-grand children.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, 1 p.m. in Indian Hill Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Michael Williamson and Pastor Debra Williamson. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

He will be in state in the church Thursday at 12 noon.

The Family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1 p.m. on Thursday in the Church.

Geraldine W. Sarratt

Geraldine Watkins Sarratt, 69, of 217 Oakview Drive, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017, in her home.

Wife of Edgar Nathaniel Sarratt, Sr., she was born in Cleveland County, NC to Oscar and Elizabeth Wood Watkins.

She was a graduate of Crest High School, a member of Concord Baptist Church, and a retiree of Cherokee County Schools.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Anthony; 2 brothers, Calvin and Jeff Watkins; and 4 sisters, Grace Martin, Katherine, Joyce, and Betty Jean Watkins.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Edgar Nathaniel Sarratt, Sr., of the home; 2 daughters, Lisa Renee Bridges of Gaffney and Nicole Nichols (Jai) of Spartanburg; 5 sons, Dennis Mintz (Minister Verlinda) and Deacon Shawn Mintz (Lashanda) of Gaffney; James Edgar Surratt (Jennifer) of Waldorf, MD, Edgar N. Sarratt, Jr. (Karin) of Carmel, IN, and Tirash L. Houey (Docia) of Lawrenceville, GA; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., in Concord Baptist Church with Dr, Michael Bridges and Minister Mae Frances Sarratt. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She will be in state in the church Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Jessica Annquenette Harris

Jessica Annquenette Harris was born in Gaffney, S.C. on September 19, 1983, and resided in Concord N.C. She was the daughter of Steven Harris and Tammy McCluney; reared in the home of her god-mother, Mary Douglas of Gaffney, S.C.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She joined Bethel Baptist Church and was a former member of the Buds of Promise, Young Adult Choir, Adopted Daughters and Usher Board.

She was a 2001 graduate of Gaffney Senior High School. She received an Associate Degree from Spartanburg Technical College and Bachelors Degree from Strayer University. She was employed with Amerisource Bergen as a Reimbursement Counselor in Fort Mill, S.C.

Jessica transitioned from earth to eternity on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Concord, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest “Butch” Mc- Cluney, Edna “Tutter’ McCluney and Floyd Harris.

She leaves precious memories to a daughter, Princess Ansley Symone Poole; parents, Steven Harris, Tammy McCluney, and Mary Douglas; grandmother, Anna Marie Harris; special friend, Demarius Poole; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday, November 30th at 1 p.m. in Limestone Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. J.W. Sanders, Jr., presiding, and Rev. James Patton, Jr., eulogist. She will be in state in church at 12 noon.
