Dana Danielle Hoey

Dana Danielle Hoey, 37, of 274 Cherokee Ridge Drive, passed away on Monday, August 7, in Spartanburg.

She was born in Gaffney and was a daughter of August 23, 1979 to Lorraine Hoey and Charlie Davidson, Jr.

She attended the public schools in Gaffney and was a former employee of Marriott Hotel in Spartanburg and Lippert, Inc. of Gaffney. Dana was preparing to become a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, SherMoriya, and grandfather, Frank Smith, Jr.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: husband, Aaron Covington of Beaufort, SC; two sons, Kelon Lemar McGill, Jr. of Gaffney and Elijah J. McGill of the home; a daughter, Makayla Danielle Hoey of the home; Bianca Nicole Jefferies of Gaffney, reared in the home as a daughter; mother, Lorraine Hoey, of Gaffney; step-father, Robert Lee Hoey of Anderson; a brother, Elroy Tate of Gaffney; sisters, Tina Holmes (Louis), Cicley Davidson, Sheba Jefferies, and Reba Hoey; step-sister, Tanya Logan; grandmother, Lucille Smith, all of Gaffney; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Brother Bobby Jefferies and Brother Abraham Duenas.

The family is at the home of her mother, Lorraine Hoey, 1110 Elmore Street.

Mrs. Betty Ruth Kelly Bradley

Mrs. Betty Ruth Kelly Bradley, 82, formerly of Blacksburg, entered eternal rest Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Union County and was a daughter of the late Calvin and Aileen Gregory Kelly Moore.

She was a member of The Divine True Holiness Church of God and a retired employee of Duke Power Company.

Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by 3 sons, Sylvester, Richard, and John Bradley, and siblings, Manuel, Arthur, Tony, and Jasper Moore, Ada Ruth Parker and Ileen Smith.

Surviving are: a son, Roger Bradley of Blacksburg; daughters, Carolyn Montgomery (Robbie Burris), Teresa Bradley and Rachel Bradley, all of Gaffney; her former husband, Howard Bradley of Gaffney; brothers, Bobby Kelly, Sr. and Jesse Moore (Ateria) of Gaffney, Marion Moore of Jonesville, Glenn Moore of Union; sisters, Bessie Porter (Joe Dean) of Jonesville, Priscilla Savage of Laurens, Kelly Richardson of Atlanta, GA; daughters-in-law, Teresa Bradley and Patricia Bradley; 22 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Monday, August 7th at 2:00 p.m., in The Divine True Holiness Church of God in Blacksburg, with Overseer Theodore Lockhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Rachel Bradley, 913 N. Granard Street.

Mrs. Frances (Mam) R. Smith

Mrs. Frances (Mam) R. Smith entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 25, in her home. She retired from the Cherokee County School District after 37 years of service. Ms. Smith was a member of AAUW, Cherokee Red Cross, Cherokee County Literacy Association, Cherokee County Arts Council, Friends of the Library, Democratic Women, a charter member and Elder of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Mam is survived by her children Victor Smith, La- Tanya Smith, and Myrielle Smith Johnson, Esq.; Brother, Ivan Reeves (Ruby), grandchildren, Michael Brown, Reeves Smith, Toni Johnson Freeman, and Jared Foster Smith. She was a mother, sister, teacher and friend.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, August 12th, 2:00 p.m., in Limestone Presbyterian Church, South Limestone Street in Gaffney, with Rev. Rayford Camp officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to either Cherokee County Red Cross, Bethesda Presbyterian Church or CCEAR (Retired teachers).
